Salem Lockwood has always felt like she has
grown up differently than others.
With a silver-spoon raising as daughter of the Mayor and a last name attached to one of the founding families of the town, you would think her life seems perfect— right?
She's only ever received everything anyone else in Mystic Falls could only dream of. Two parents, money, stunningly gorgeous looks... Salem has it all.
But then, why does she always feel angry?
Confused. Overwhelmed... drowning.
Behind closed doors, her life is not what everyone worships it to be. With an abusive father, a mother she's always going back and forth in screaming matches with, probably because Carol isn't even her and Tyler's real mother, due to her father being unfaithful and as a result her and Tyler being lied to for most of their life...
Needless to say, Salem needed out. She felt constantly as if she was suffocating— an eerily ticking bomb, awaiting to be set off at any moment, her brain was screaming, pleading for a moment of silence.
So much so that her sophomore year when she finally found out the truth about who she truly was, she started drinking. And drinking... doing drugs, getting high, anything to shut her mind off and make escape everything about her shitty life, maddening parents, and her god-awful, temperamental self with teetering emotions ready to pour over... at any given time.
And kill her entirely...
At any given moment.
Good thing she's immortal...
But how?
