i now understand the girl who always came to school crying with bags under her eyes that were glassy and red as tears still rolled down her cheeks as she walked to class i understand the boy who hated going home at the end of the day knowing the personal hell he went through as soon as he stepped through that door and know why he always wore long sleeves too it was to cover the marks old and new that never seemed to fully heal i know understand the silent kid in the back of the class looking out the window as time slowly ticked away the kid who never seemed to have any friends and seemed so isolated i know understand the students who lives would be a living hell with grades suffering and homes that were made out of cards that had already fallen down and yet the wore a smile to seem ok i know understand the two boys who always hangout and smile at each other but won't be anything more than friends because one is Christian who had been taught it was a sin and the other confused and in love with someone he knows he couldn't been with because the story isn't romeo and romeo its romeo and Juliet, maybe it was the class clown who had lines covering his wrists but no one ever noticed since they were busy laughing at corny joke he just said or the girl who has straight As but that's not good enough for her parents so she never seen outside of a library or school maybe it's the kid whose only reason they're still alive is their online friends who would question why they stopped logging on or maybe it was the ghosts of all the students who never got to actually live because their lives were cut short by LOCKS LIGHTS OUT OF SIGHT! because their country was to busy banning books and drag queens for them to care about the dying children. we all are tired, can't you see that? no not from sleep but from existing and seeing the world slowly fall into a state of disrepair that I've only ever seen in fictional books and movies oh wait i forgot you don't see anything wrong with the world
