Jungkook sat at his kitchen table, stirring the coffee in his mug absentmindedly. He hadn’t been able to sleep the night before. His eyes were tired, his mind foggy with worry. Those messages—the words, the unsettling implications—they haunted him every waking moment. But today felt a little different. For some reason, knowing that Taehyung was close by brought him a strange sense of comfort.

*Maybe I can trust him.*

Taehyung had been a constant presence since he was hired, always there in the background, watching over Jungkook with a steady gaze. And though his intensity could be unnerving, there was a warmth in the way he always seemed to be one step ahead, ready to step in at the right moment.

As if on cue, Taehyung appeared in the doorway, his broad frame leaning against the wall with casual ease. His eyes flickered over Jungkook for a brief second before softening. “Didn’t sleep again?” he asked, his deep voice like a balm to Jungkook’s frazzled nerves.

Jungkook managed a weak smile. “Yeah… I guess it’s hard to sleep when you feel like someone’s watching you all the time.”

Taehyung moved closer, the air shifting between them as his presence filled the room. “I’m always watching you,” he said, his voice teasing but with a serious undertone. “That’s my job.”

Jungkook chuckled lightly, trying to brush off the heaviness. “Well, that’s different. You’re supposed to watch me.”

“Does that make you feel safe?” Taehyung’s eyes locked with Jungkook’s, and for a moment, it felt like everything in the room had stilled, the world fading into the background. His gaze was intense, searching, and Jungkook couldn’t help but feel drawn to him in a way that was both comforting and… something more.

Jungkook looked down, feeling a warmth rise in his cheeks. “I guess it does,” he admitted, his voice softer now. “But… sometimes it’s a bit much. I just want to feel normal again.”

Taehyung stepped closer, his hand resting on the back of Jungkook’s chair. He leaned in slightly, his voice a gentle murmur. “You are normal, Jungkook. You’re just in a situation that’s making everything feel… wrong. But I’ll make sure nothing happens to you. I promise.”

Jungkook glanced up, his heart skipping a beat at the proximity. Taehyung was close now, closer than he’d ever been, and the intensity in his eyes made Jungkook’s breath hitch. There was something about the way Taehyung looked at him, something that felt almost too intimate.

For a moment, Jungkook felt his guard slipping. Maybe it was the exhaustion, or maybe it was the way Taehyung’s presence seemed to drown out the fear. He found himself leaning slightly towards him, their faces only inches apart.

“Taehyung…” Jungkook whispered, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the words. His body was tense, caught between the lingering fear from the stalker’s messages and this sudden, unexpected closeness with Taehyung.

Before he could continue, Taehyung reached out, his hand gently brushing against Jungkook’s cheek. The touch was light, careful, and yet it sent a shiver down Jungkook’s spine. Taehyung’s thumb traced the line of his jaw, his eyes dark with something Jungkook couldn’t quite place.

“You’re safe with me,” Taehyung repeated, his voice low and deliberate. “I won’t let anyone hurt you.”

Jungkook’s breath caught, and for a moment, he felt the world narrow to just this—just Taehyung’s hand on his cheek, the warmth of his body so close, and the steady, unyielding way Taehyung was looking at him. There was something unspoken in the air between them, a tension that hung heavy, electric.

It was Taehyung who broke the silence first, his thumb brushing over Jungkook’s lips, a fleeting, almost possessive touch. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

Jungkook swallowed hard, his heart racing. There was something about the way Taehyung touched him, the way he spoke—it felt both protective and… something else. Something darker. But in that moment, it was hard to care. He just wanted to feel safe, and Taehyung was offering that in a way no one else could.

“Thank you,” Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible.

Taehyung smiled softly, his hand falling away, but his gaze never left Jungkook’s. “You’re mine to protect.”

---

Later that evening, as Jungkook stood in front of the mirror in his bathroom, the events of the day replayed in his mind. Taehyung’s words, his touch—it had left an imprint on him, one that he couldn’t shake. He stared at his reflection, his hand unconsciously tracing the spot on his cheek where Taehyung had touched him.

A soft knock on the bathroom door startled him, and he turned quickly, his heart racing.

“Jungkook?” Taehyung’s voice called through the door, deep and calm as always. “Are you alright?”

Jungkook hesitated, his mind still clouded with thoughts of their earlier interaction. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, his voice steady, though his heart was anything but.

He opened the door, and Taehyung stood there, leaning against the frame, his eyes as intense as ever. There was something about the way Taehyung looked at him that made Jungkook’s pulse quicken, something in the way he stood—tall, confident, completely in control.

Without thinking, Jungkook stepped closer, his body moving on its own accord. “I—” he started, but the words failed him.

Taehyung’s gaze darkened, and for a moment, neither of them moved. The air between them felt thick, charged. And then, without warning, Taehyung reached out, his hand curling around the back of Jungkook’s neck, pulling him closer.

The touch wasn’t harsh, but it wasn’t gentle either—it was possessive, firm, sending a jolt of electricity through Jungkook’s body.

“You have no idea how much I’ve wanted this,” Taehyung murmured, his voice low, almost a growl. His lips brushed against the shell of Jungkook’s ear, making him shiver.

Jungkook’s breath hitched, his heart pounding in his chest. He wasn’t sure what was happening—whether it was right or wrong—but in that moment, he didn’t care. All he could think about was Taehyung, the way his touch made him feel, the way his presence seemed to drown out everything else.

And when Taehyung’s lips finally pressed against his, the world seemed to stop entirely.
