A road trip was exactly what the doctor ordered, or in this case, the constantly disappointed reapers in Nico's life and what better way to live life to the fullest than to go on a random double date with a girl he met in a bar a few nights ago.
"I can't believe that's how they decided to end it," his date, Bryce, retorted, looking out the window. "Like these three movies just weren't worth it."
"Some of the fight scenes were pretty cool," the girl in the front responded; Bryce just rolled her eyes looking towards Nico.
"Did you like it?" she asked, blue eyes staring into Nico's green.
"Ehh," he shrugged, "They just really can't compare to the original trilogy, but I liked Obi-wan and Anikan's fight, but I mean, they did Padme so dirty; what was her character this movie!" "Right!" Bryce answered, raising her hands in agreement.
"Whatever, it was a nerdy ass movie. Are we still going to that bar?" the driver, Brad asks. Nico doesn't like him; he thinks Jenny, the other girl, could probably do better, but oh well, it's not like he knew any of these people.
"Yeah, that's by the motel you're staying at, right, Nico?" Bryce asks, grinning up to him in a way that suggests he won't be the only one staying at the motel tonight.
"Sure is," he answers with an easy grin.
Suddenly, Nico is jolted forward, his arm shooting out to hold Bryce back against the seat. The car lurches to a sudden stop, and Jenny shouts in the front seat.
"What the hell, Brad?" Bryce yells, leaning forward to smack the man in the front seat. An uneasy feeling settled in Nico's stomach as he looked out into the dark stretch of road, the feeling only growing worse as Bryce continued to speak, "Is that a body?"
"Call 911," Brad says, moving to get out of the car.
"Stay in the car, dude. Just call the cops, and let's leave," Nico says, the sick feeling in his stomach all too familiar. The three other occupants of the car all gave him shocked and horrified looks, but they also probably hadnt been dying to supernatural occurrences for the last 24 years.
"We aren't doing that, Nico; what the hell?" Bryce said, also moving to get out of the car before he stopped her and got out with Brad instead.
"You would really just leave this guy?" Brad is asking, but Nico isn't really listening as the approached the seemingly dead guy in the middle of the street. "Aren't you a firefighter, dude?"
"Used to be," He mutters, leaning down to check the body, his own body tense with the urge to run, to move himself far away from this person and situation.
And at this point in time Nico knows he should listen to his gut, to just let people make their own mistakes and try to avoid death at every corner. Because this... this was not what the Reaper order.
Sharp fangs burned as they dug into his neck, ripping the flesh away and a really unsexy way. Vampire's were officially off the "good way to die" list, because fuck this sucked. Slippery with blood Nico tried to push the vampire away, his limbs feeling cold, head filled with the screams of his temporary companions. Was this his fault? Should he just stay away from everyone.
"Oh, Nico, this is going to be an unpleasant next few days," Tessa said, sitting next to Nico and his corpse as they watched Bryce and Jenny get knocked unconscious and Brad get drunk from.
"I have a feeling I'll be seeing you quite a bit these next few days," Nico mutters, still rubbing his neck even as his body continues to sluggishly bleed beside him, "Their time come yet?" he asks looking to the people around him. He watched the vacant look enter Tessa's eyes as she thought about it.
