"Be, be as you've always been

True to the time and the place you've been given

Your heart in the world, and a world there within

And, lover, be good to me"

Y/n was pretty clever - but it didn't take any serious deduction to realize that something was... well... wrong. Firstly, he woke up in a bed that wasn't his. The sheets smelled clean, freshly washed, with simple yet quality linens. At least they weren't dirty? His eyes darted around the room, making more discoveries about his circumstances.

The room was well decorated, yet... lacked personality. There was an ornate dresser, a desk, a wide mirror, and large windows covered with sheer curtains. Despite this, there wasn't any clutter that suggested hobbies, walls blank of posters or decoration. He stood up quickly, grateful that his physical condition was alright.

Y/n moved to the window, drawing back the curtains to get a better view. He stood in awe of the view. There were a couple of other houses, but more shockingly, a whole ocean. He staggered back, questions racing through his mind. What ocean was this? Whose room was he in?

As he stumbled back, he caught his reflection in the mirror. It wasn't anything shocking, exactly how he remembered looking - perhaps a bit more panicked than usual. Yet he was wearing clothes he didn't remember whatsoever. A flowy, open white shirt and chic beige slacks. Was he kidnapped by a rich person?

Then his eyes were drawn to the desk, where there was a laptop open with a familiar screen - one that an otome fan like Y/n would easily recognize.

It was the main menu of Seaside Hearts - one of many games that Y/n had immersed himself in. He remembered that an indie developer around his age created it, and it was the only game the creator put out. He could also remember the basics of the plot, but he was getting ahead of himself. Who was playing Seaside Hearts?

He grazed the touchpad, trying to look at the save history of the game. He clicked, and... nothing. The start button was unresponsive. So were load and setting functions. Finally, when he clicked on the info button, a new screen appeared. Funny, Y/n had never bothered with that menu option before.

The "info" seemed to be a character image gallery. Y/n scrolled through, briefly refreshing his memory.

First, the protagonist, Winston Summers. An image of a young man with black hair and startling but beautiful pink eyes. Y/n remembered that in the story, Winston was often bullied for his eye color. He thought that the developer was a bit ridiculous for that choice, considering that the man was beautiful by any standard. Winston was sweet and a bit of a people-pleaser, with clearly low self-esteem.
