-A OCxCANNON Story By MagicMike

--------

Today marks the tenth year of Iciro knowing Telemachus (The Prince of Ithaca) but only the eighth year of being Penelope's (The Queen of Ithaca) "suitor" and let me tell you...it was hard. Not only did he have to deal with the other suitors pestering him about how they hated him for being close to the queen, but he also had to deal with the fact that her son hated him. It was bad enough that when Telemachus and Iciro first met Telemachus showed absolutely zero interest in even talking to him but boy when Penelope casted him as not only her "suitor" but as a personal medic for the prince...that made everything worse.

But luckily, after nine years of pretty much ignoring Iciro's entire existence (except for when he was sick and/or hurt of course) Telemachus finally said: "Hi Iciro" to him while walking in the halls of the palace. Then from there their relationship started to change...slightly.

"We still aren't friends." Telemachus said as he sat on his bed.

"Then what are we?" Iciro asked as he sat next to him.

Telemachus thought for a moment.

"Advanced acquaintances."

"Oh, come on!" Iciro protested.

"It's been eight years since I became your medic. What will it take for us to pass the acquaintances stage?"

"Stop being my mom's suitor."

Iciro was a bit taken back by the prince's answer. That was not the response he was expecting.

"You know I can't do that Telemachus" Iciro sighed.

"Why not?" Telemachus asked him.

Iciro didn't know how to answer. I mean he could tell him that the only reason why he was his mother's "suitor" was because of a note that was left for him by his father Polites before he left war...explaining that he was to protect Telemachus as well as his mother when the time came...and that he explained all this to his mother and that's why by the age of 16 he became her "suitor" and hide his age from everyone but Penelope(and Eurycleia: Odysseus's and Telemachus' caregiver) because that was the only way he could protect them from whatever danger that were to come their way. But he knew that if he told him, it could possibly put not only him in danger...but the queen and prince as well, and that's something he couldn't risk.

"I just can't..." He answered.

"Then I guess we'll never pass the acquaintances stage. But hey look on the bright side...at least we're talking finally."

Iciro couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah, that is a good thing, isn't it?"

Suddenly a knock was heard at the door.

"Iciro" A soft voice spoke as she opened Telemachus' room door.

The two boys looked to see that it was none other than Eurycleia. She had a small, kind smile on her face as she entered.

"Yes, Eurycleia?" Iciro responded.

"The queen wishes to see you."

Iciro looked at the boy next to him...to which Telemachus responded with a nod. Iciro slightly smiled and followed Eurycleia out of the room. As soon as they left Telemachus layed down on his bed...and started thinking. Thinking about the past 10 years...about not only Iciro, but the other hundreds of suitors that were there. Then suddenly, he started thinking about his father...and the stories his mother would tell about him. He sighed and after a few minutes he finally said to himself: "I wanna be legendary."
