By the time lunch break rolled around you were almost certain you were slipping into insanity. Each passing minute felt like a needle being sutured through the pores of your skin binding it all together into a mangled mess of something unidentifiable. You were sure you had lost all feeling in your torso, the only thing that resounded against the numbness of your bones was the pounding of your heart that hadn't ceased since Yuji texted you two hours after class began.

"Hi, sorry to disturb you, I'm at a practice match with another school today, sorry I couldn't inform you of this earlier, though I mailed Noritoshi about it. Ah, screw all that, I'm gonna drop by school this afternoon, will you wait for me again, please?"

The text glared at you, neon against the white highlight of the screen, and you glared at it back from under your desk, until another one popped up several minutes later,

"Please? I won't take long, I promise :("

It was only then when you realised you had been zoning out looking at the text, and to Yuji it probably seemed as though you left him on read on purpose. You immediately sent a quick 'sure' text back before throwing your phone into your bag and groaning against the polished wooden surface of your desk. You were sure something truly cruel was about to happen, something so deeply rooted in evil that it would consume you wholly to the point where even your ashes won't remain to justify your existence.

The day extends into oblivion. Merely sitting through your classes ends up becoming a daunting task. Your nerves feel frayed, like ripped seams of a cloth with frayed hems, clinging onto the very idea of life despite losing all essence.

Kirara notices your tense state and takes it upon herself to watch out for you for the entire day, like an overprotective parent.

"You sure you're gonna be okay?" She asks, offering you one of her signature pouts, the silver of her piercing glittering against her mouth.

"Yeah, don't worry." You smile discarding your half eaten plate of food, Kirara simply eyes you, unconvinced.

Yuji curses as he darts out of the school premises and into the street, the air around him cold as the sun descends into the horizon.

"Fuck." He curses loudly as his phone glares its logo in front of him, long dead, he was late, very late, very very late.

The match had dragged on for longer than usual due to Todo's insistence on redoing certain sets, however the neon of the gym lights hadn't allowed Yuji to truly comprehend how late it was getting, so by the time he was out of the shower, evening had already descended.

When he finally entered his school premises, his desperate search for you commenced. With hurried footsteps he broke into another sprint, scaling the area to find you and it wasn't long before he found you perched on the stairs.
