The Voidweavers were among the most feared of the Children. Their mastery over time and space allowed them to evade even the most skilled warriors, and their ability to create pocket dimensions—small fragments of the Void—trapped their victims in eternal loops, forced to relive their worst memories over and over again until they broke.

Other Children, known as Soulbinders, had the power to enslave the souls of those they killed, forcing them to fight for the Void as specters—hollow shells of their former selves. These specters were mindless, driven only by the will of their Voidmaster, and they could not be killed by normal means. Only by destroying the Child who controlled them could the specters be freed from their torment.

The Children were also known to summon entities from the Void to aid them in battle. These creatures, called Voidsworn, were nightmarish horrors beasts made of shifting shadow, with too many eyes, too many teeth, and bodies that defied the natural laws of the physical world. The Voidsworn were nearly indestructible, as they did not exist fully in this plane of reality, phasing in and out of existence as they attacked their prey.

The Children of the Void were not merely mindless servants of the Umbral Tide they had a purpose. Their mission was to find and open Nexus Gates in every realm, allowing the Void to consume each world one by one. The Nexus Gates were ancient portals that connected the realms to the Void, and only by opening them could the Umbral Tide flow freely into the physical world. Once a gate was opened, the Void would spread like a cancer, devouring everything in its path, leaving only darkness in its wake.

The Children believed that by serving the Void, they would be granted immortality and ultimate power. To them, the destruction of the physical world was not an act of evil, but a necessary step toward true enlightenment a return to the primordial state of existence, where all was one with the Void. They saw themselves as chosen, blessed by the Umbral Tide, and they viewed those who opposed them as blind, clinging to a dying reality that had already been doomed.

In their twisted philosophy, the Children believed that the Void was the true nature of the universe, and that the physical world was an illusion—a temporary aberration that needed to be erased. They reveled in their role as harbingers of this "cleansing," believing that they were bringing balance to the cosmos by allowing the Void to reclaim what had once been its dominion.

In recent years, new leaders had risen among the Children, each more ruthless and cunning than the last. One such leader was Lady Seraphine, a former sorceress from a distant realm who had willingly embraced the Void in exchange for the promise of ultimate power. Unlike many of the Children, who had been consumed by the Void unwillingly, Seraphine had sought it out, offering herself as a vessel for its dark energy. She now commanded a legion of Voidspawn, elite warriors who had been handpicked for their loyalty and strength.

Another feared commander was Lord Kaelith, once a revered general in the armies of a fallen kingdom. His tactical brilliance and cold, calculating nature made him a dangerous foe. He had mastered the art of soul-binding, creating an army of enslaved specters that fought tirelessly in his name. Kaelith was known for his brutal efficiency, and he had brought many realms to their knees with his unrelenting campaigns.

As Kael, Nyx, Aiden, and the Stormguard prepared for their assault on the Umbral Warden, they knew that facing the Children of the Void would be unlike anything they had encountered before. These were not mere monsters—they were soldiers of the Void, and they would stop at nothing to ensure that the Nexus Gate was opened and the Umbral Tide unleashed.

The battle to come would not just be for Valyria. It would be for the very fabric of reality itself.
