I ran behind Sebastian seconds later. I had suddenly lost all urges to fall asleep. The only thing running through my mind was what my future had in store for me. In all honesty, I had never been this scared for safety since Amanda and Bellanova decided that they wanted to become MI6 agents.
I ran down the hallway in search of Sebastian, only to run straight into one of the guys who went on the run this morning.
“Sorry.” I mumbled. He gripped my arms, steadying me.
“That’s ok.” He replied. I tried to pull away from him but nearly fell over again. The guy started to laugh at me, causing me to glare at him.
“You’re clumsy.” He said. His voice was so gruff I sounded almost shrill next to it.
“Whatever. Have you see Sebastian?” I asked him. He shook his head.
“Can’t say that I have.” He responded. I let out a breath. What the hell was he planning? I wondered. The guy stared at me for a while, seemingly trying to figure me out before he spoke.
“Hugh.” The guy said.
“Jackman.” I replied out of a force of habit. He looked at me strangely.
“What?” He asked with this weird look on his face. I shook my head.
“Force of habit,” I replied. He smiled.
“Well, that’s my name. Hugh. Darcy, though.” He responded. My eyes widened at his surname, but then my mind strayed to Amanda and I began to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” He asked me.
“Your name.” I managed to gasp out from the sudden coughing fit that I had found myself in.
“How so?” He asked me. I tried to calm my wheezing before I spoke again.
“Someone I know would love that name.” I replied, thinking about Amanda. She was the theatrical one of the dolls and liked anything dealing with Jane Austin, fake hair and Hugh Jackman.
“Hey. I don’t want to seem out of place here but…” He started but then we heard someone call my name from downstairs. When we turned, we saw Charlie running towards us.
“Hey bro.” He said. I glared at him, not forgiving him for the pain my body was still going through. He through his hands around my shoulders and I shrugged him off.
“I’m not your bro.” I told him. He threw himself back, acting hurt.
“How could you say that?” He asked me. I rolled my eyes.
“Easily.” I muttered. Charles threw himself backwards and felt his head.
“The hurt.” He said. I swore the guy got more dramatic every time we met. I rolled my eyes at him.
“Yeah. Whatever.” I muttered. “I’m going to go look for Sebastian.” As I walked away, Hugh grabbed my arm so I looked up at him.
“Hey if you want…” He started but then froze. I looked at him expectantly.
“What?” I asked. He let me go as though my arm had suddenly caught on fire. I was about to enquire what was happening when I heard someone call my name. “Sorry, I have to go.” I told them, before heading towards the sound of the voice.
When I went downstairs, Jack was waiting for me by the phone.
“You called?” I asked him. He nodded. The same weird look on his face as before. I stared at him.
“Yes?” I asked him.
“A girl called for you.” Jack told me. I stared at him waiting for more information.
“And?” I probed.
“She said if you failed to call her she would gut you like a fish then feed you to her koi.” He told me. I smiled knowing exactly who called but I was still slightly confused as to why Bellanova would have wanted to feed me to her koi.
“Did she say when a good time for me to call her was?” I asked him. He shook his head.
“No.” He replied. I nodded.
“Oh, ok.” I said. I was about to leave when I heard him speak again.
“Ugh… Jason.”
“Yes.” I responded, turning to the youngest chandler.
“I don’t mean to be rude or anything.” He started, “But… umm… are you… ugh…”
“Just come out with it.” I told him.
“Are you gay!” He practically shouted. I stared at him. What?
“What?” I asked.
“Are you… you know. I’m not going to judge or anything. I mean, I just want to know, you know. And…” I couldn’t hold back anymore. He was rambling and looking so awkward asking me if I was gay I couldn’t help but laugh.
“It’s ok, Jack. I’m not.” I said laughing. He breathed out a sigh of relief.
“Oh. Ok.” I nodded with a smile.
“Well, I think I’ll be going. I need to go call Yagomi.” I told him. He smiled at me, most likely relived that I was not a gay guy even though I think I am, considering that I was a straight girl. I turned and bumped into Charlie.
“Whoa, down girl.” He said. I stared at him, almost scared that he had found out. Would that mean that I would have to leave? I glared up at a grinning Charlie.
“Piss off.” I said attempting to walk away but it did not work out that way. Instead, as I turned, Sebastian and Hugh entered the kitchen. Charlie gripped my arm but as I pulled away, out of his hold, my body went sailing through the air and I connected with Hugh. Chest to chest, nose to nose, lips to lips.
Dear God, what have I done?
