And then suddenly, I heard a noise. I veered around to look behind me when the creak of the floorboards proved that I wasn't alone indeed. A chill ran down my spine, as I squinted to peer through the shadows, my eyes adjusting to the darkness. My heartbeat increased, my voice trembling with terror, "Who goes there?"
I clutched onto the fabric of my dress, my fingers digging into my palm with trepidation. I was overwrought with a feeling of dread. For what company had I just found myself with?
A dark figure then loomed from the shadows, and I was scared stiff. I stood terrified, as the silhouette took shape and inched toward me ever so slowly. And in my fear, I shut my eyes.
"Do my eyes deceive me? Well, if it isn't my dearest cousin, Lea!"
