November 21st, 2012 a kitten is born. they assigned him the title of Z-09, but some know him affectionately as bubble. his fur is a dark blue-ish grey, you would think it was black if not seen in good lighting. hes the sweetest thing you would ever meet, a total snuggle bug. everyone at urbanshade loved him, treat him like a friend rather than a soon-to-be guinea pig.
they would test different species of animals to try and see if they could give animals with lungs gills before moving on to human testing. bubble, was one of many test subjects. they gave him dna from several marine species, tiger shark, coelacanth, and firefly squid.
the results were successful, but left him with physical transformation. much of his beautiful dark fur being shed, leaving rough, shark-like skin on his lower body. his tail becoming a weird combination of the shark and coelacanth. two pairs of eyes had formed under his two existing ones, the pupils gaining a bright glow. he developed subtle markings on his skin and fur, as well as bioluminescent freckles, presumably from the firefly squid.
not much had changed in behavior, besides from increased wariness and lack of trust towards scientists and staff that he once had. he was moved to the hadal blacksite, along with several other test subjects, at least, those who survived.
October 14th, 2025
chaos.
the blaring alarms hurt his ears, his heart pounded in his chest while he cowered in the corner of his containment cell, staff and personnel rushing and shouting orders.
he couldnt understand what anyone was saying, but he knew something was wrong. gunshots were fired, human voices screaming in agony and anguish.
an amalgamation of flesh and meat massacred the personnel outside the cell, moving onto the next room only after all of them were dead. hours pass, the dust settles a little bit, and the slither of scales is heard outside of the containment cell.
a serpentine.. man..? he looked strange, but.. like bubble- er.. catfish... at least, in a weird, mixed and matched way. he approaches the door, using a card to open it with a few beeps, the heavy metal sliding open.
but catfish was weary, even after the strange man left the room, looking back once with his glowing blue eyes.
it never left the cat-.. er.. if he even was a cat anymore.
those eyes.
so he followed. not close behind, keeping a good distance between the two, but enough that he could observe silently.
and that was what he did for as long as he could, occasionally losing the serpentine man for a while, getting into trouble and gaining the many scars and torn fins. but he always found him again.
he always did.

in game purposes and whatevers -a sort of helper and companion
-leaves and returns with helpful items (i.g. batteries, code breachers etc.)
-can kill squiddles and wall dwellers, though typically avoids the latter
-only found in sebastians shop, which it will have a small chance of following the player
-very shy, curious fella
-has a close relationship with eyefestation, though it will not help in any attacks
-helps the player reach the ridge safely, where it may then leave
feeding catfish wall dweller flesh increases the chance of it following you after leaving sebastians shop, but if you leave it after irritating sebastian to a certain degree, it may follow the player, and kill it soon after, although rare.
also helps the player navigate through the water outside the facility with its bioluminescent spots and patterns, but cannot help with parasites or searchlights, waiting for the player at the point of destination.
