Piece Of My Heart

New beginnings (Angela's pov)

This is the part where I pretend to wake up, because to be honest, I didn't even sleep. I mean how could I sleep with all of this anxiety.
I draw the curtain that separates my room and the dinning table where I find my mom setting the table.

"Good morning mama" I said as I gave a a warm hug.

"Good morning sweetie,wash your face then come have some breakfast." She said.

I rushed to our bathroom outside and poured some water into a basin and washed my face.

Mornings in downtown is a lively spectacle. The streets buzz with people hurrying to work, school, delivery trucks and street vendors setting up their stalls. The aroma of fresh coffee and pastries drifts through the air, blending with the hum of conversations and the occasional honk of a taxi. The buildings catch the first light of the day, casting Long shadows on the streets below.

"Honey you don't wanna be late on your first day," my mother calls out from inside

I rush inside and take my sit at the table. The aroma of fresh baked apple pie fills the room with a comforting warmth. The rich scent of caramelized apples, combined with hints of cinnamon and vanilla, creates a irresistible blend of sweetness and spice.

"I have  a suprise for you honey," my mom said, excited, with her eyes wide and a broad smile.

She carefully unzipped her bag. With a familiar, loving touch, her hands deftly navigating the contents. After a moment of rummaging through the well-worn compartments, she pulled out a brand new phone with a soft smile.

"This is for you dear, i want you to call me everyday or atleast give me a text, promise me Ella," she said this with an affectionate gaze, her eyes warm and tender.

Tears immediatelystarted rolling from my eyes, I kept on imagining how much myother had to sacrifice to buy me a phone.

"I will mum...I promise" I gave her a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Okay Hun, go take a shower, hope you remembered to pack dear."

"Yes I did," I said.

I couldn't contain my excitement! It felt like there was a whirlwind of happiness swirling around inside, making me almost jittery.

As I took a bath, I couldn't help but feel like I was abandoning my mom, who will she live with? I mean yes I'd visit but still was it enough? Was I selfish for wanting to go away to this school and live my mom alone?

I wore an outfit that was both functional and comfortable. I had on a pair of plain jeans and a blouse which was a soft pastel. I wore some flats and a bracelet my mum gifted me completed the look.

I was done, now it was time to go.

"Mama I want you to know how deeply I love you," I said softly, stroking her hair."Everything I do is for you."

"I know hunny," she said with a soft smile. "And I want you to go out there and make me proud,"

I give my mum one more hug and I leave.

As I made my way to the bus stop, my light suitcase in hand, a mixture of excitement and nerves fluttered inside me. The suitcase, though compact, seemed to hold all my hopes and dreams for this new chapter. Its sturdy handle felt reassuring against my palm as I walked, the wheels rolling smoothly over the pavement. Each step towards the bus stop was a step into the unknown, yet the lightweight suitcase was a comforting reminder that I was ready to embrace this new adventure.

I got to the bus stop and got on the bus, as the bus rumbled down the road to my new school, a thrill of excitement bubbled up inside me, like yes I was nervous, but still ready to see what the school has to offer.

As I slowly roused from my nap on the bus, my eyelids fluttered open to the sudden jolt of the vehicle coming to a stop. I glanced around and realised that we had arrived at my destination. My anticipation grew as I gathered my things, ready to step into this new chapter.

As I stepped out of the bus and approached the entrance, my eyes widened at the sight of the school for the first time. The gates were tall, dark blue in colour, adorned with intricate designs that seemed to promise countless new adventures within, or maybe my worst nightmare.
