A slender, golden finger of sunlight poked through a crack in the curtain, tracing a lazy path across the dusty floor. Its touch was gentle, like a caress from a lover, warming the chilled air and awakening the slumbering senses. A soft hand gently shook her shoulder, breaking the tranquillity of her dreams. " Wake up, darling ", her mother's voice whispered, filled with comforting warmth.
"Five more minutes", she mumbled, pulling the covers over her head. " You're going to be late for your first day of college", her mother insisted, gently tugging at the covers.
"I know, I know", a young woman named Anya groaned, finally sitting up. Still, eyes closed and mumbling "But it's so cold".
"Just get out of bed, honey", her mother said, smiling. " I don't want you to be late on your first day".
She stretched, feeling the warmth of sunlight in her skin. As she opened her eyes, she saw her mother sitting beside her, a kind smile on her face
" Morning mumma", Anya replied, her voice still groggy; she sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. As she reached for her glasses. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Today was the day she was leaving for college. After a quick morning routine, she slipped into her clothes and headed downstairs. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. Her mother was already at the kitchen table, with a steaming cup of coffee in her hand.
" I made your favourite", her mother said placing a plate of strawberry pancakes in front of her. Anya smiled " Thanks, mumma" she took a small bite of pancake, her eyes closing in delight as the sweet taste exploded on her tongue.
After breakfast, Anya did some last-minute checks to make sure she had everything she needed with her, and along with her mother, got into the car and headed to her dream college.
After a long four-hour drive, the car pulled into the bustling college campus. Anya looked out the window, taking in the unfamiliar sights and sounds. Her heart pounded with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
Her mother reached over and squeezed her hand. " You'll do great, Anya . Remember, you're smart, strong and capable".
Anya nodded, her eyes filling with tears. "Thanks, mumma".They sat in silence for a few moments, simply enjoying each other's company. Then her mother turned to her, "Well, I guess it's time".
They stepped out of the car in silence, grabbing her luggage they turned to face each other, Anya took a deep breath and smiled. " I'll be fine. I promise". Her mother smiled back, her eyes filled with love and pride, "I know you will".Anya gave her mother a few last-minute hugs and kisses after her mother reminded her to call every day. As she walked away, she turned one last time to wave goodbye. Her mother waved back, her face a mixture of joy and sadness as she watched her mother's car disappear down the street; she couldn't help but feel a Pang of loneliness. After a quick pep talk to herself, she gathered her belongings and headed towards her college.
Anya stepped into the unknown, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that awaited her
The morning air was crisp and cool, the scent of freshly cut grass filling her nostrils; as she walked towards the college hostel, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension. This was a new chapter in her life, and she wasn't sure what to expect.
