The soft buzzing of my phone pulls me from sleep, the morning light gently filtering through my curtains. I reach out, squinting at the screen to see Mikha's name flashing. My heart flutters as I swipe to answer, her voice instantly warming me up more than the sun ever could.
"Good morning, Maraiah," Mikha greets, her tone cheerful and sweet.
"Good morning," I reply, trying to stifle a yawn but failing miserably. I can't help but smile, feeling like a kid who just got a call from her crush.
"Did I wake you?" Mikha's voice is soft, and I can hear the playful concern laced in her words.
I chuckle lightly. "Not really, just... a little groggy. What's up?"
"I was thinking," Mikha starts, her voice taking on a slightly more serious tone,
"if you're free after your shift today, maybe we could hang out? I know this cute little photobooth at the park. Thought we could take some pictures together."
The idea of it makes my heart race. Spending time with Mikha outside of our usual hangouts, capturing our moments together in little snapshots—it sounds perfect. I hum, still sleepy but definitely intrigued. "Pwede naman yeaa, I'd love to."
Mikha's laugh on the other end is light, infectious. "Great. I'll pick you up after work, okay? Have a good day, Aiah."
"You too," I reply, still grinning as I hang up. I lie back on my bed for a moment, hugging my pillow to my chest. The idea of saying yes to being Mikha's girlfriend flits through my mind. Maybe today's the day. Maybe today, I'll finally take that step.

AIAH
The café is already bustling with the morning rush by the time I arrive, my motorcycle parked securely outside. I push through the door, greeted by the familiar warmth of freshly brewed coffee and the comforting chatter of regulars.
"Morning, mukhang maganda gising mo ah," Juno greets me as I step behind the counter. His eyes flicker with curiosity, and I can tell he's already noticed my good mood.
"Morning, yeah." I reply, tying my apron around my waist. The buzz of my earlier conversation with Mikha still lingers, making everything feel a little lighter.
Maddie, who's setting up the pastries, glances over with a neutral expression. "Hey, Aiah. How are you?"
I pause, caught off guard by her sudden friendliness. "I'm okay," I say carefully, trying not to give too much away. "Things have been... pretty good lately."
