A 7-year-old girl was sleeping in her room, hugging her teddy bear. The moonlight streaming into the room made her face glow, and she looked adorable. Just then, someone gently kissed her on the face and whispered, "Happy birthday, my cute angel..."
This was Tanya's mother, Ishita Kapoor—a renowned NGO head, an exemplary housewife, and a loving mother. A woman who always walked the path of truth and justice couldn't stand any form of discrimination or injustice. A strong lady who walked step-by-step alongside her husband, Ishita had only one weakness—her beloved daughter, Tanya, the apple of her eye, more precious to her than life itself. And today was her dear daughter's 7th birthday....She placed Tanya's gift beside her and quietly left the room. Just yesterday, her daughter had asked her for a prince for her Barbie.
Just then, a mini telephone landline beside Tanya started ringing, and Ishita smiled, knowing who was calling at this moment. She picked up the call, and on the other end, a cute child's voice shouted, "Happy birthdayyyyyyy, babydoll!"
Ishita chuckled and said, "Yuvii, it's Ishima. Tanya is asleep."
Yuvraj Singhania, Tanya's frenemy—both her friend and rival—had been calling her every year on her birthday since he understood the significance of the day. He was a bit annoyed and said, "Ishima, why is Tanya sleeping? It's her birthday, she should be cutting the cake!"
Ishita replied with a hint of sadness in her voice, "No, dear. Tanya is upset because her father is not here. He had an urgent meeting and had to go to Delhi just a while ago. That's why she cried a lot and refused to celebrate her birthday."
Yuvraj also felt a bit sad upon hearing this and said, "Don't worry, Ishima. I will make sure to celebrate her birthday."
Ishita smiled a little and said, "Okay, beta. That's very kind of you. Now, you should get some sleep; it's quite late. Come over to our house tomorrow and spend time with your friend..."
After Ishita left, Tanya opened her eyes and looked out of the window at the moon. Tears welled up in her eyes as she whispered, "Why, God? Every birthday, all I want is to have both my mumma and papa with me. This time, my dad isn't here. I don't want to celebrate my birthday."
With that, she tightly hugged her teddy bear and fell asleep...
The next morning, Ishita came in and gently woke Tanya up, saying, "Wake up, princess.. today is a special day, isn't it?"
Tanya opened her eyes, saw Ishita, and then sat up, turning her face away. Ishita lovingly hugged her from behind and said, "Mera pyaara baccha...., your papa loves you very much. He would have left any important deal just to be with you on your birthday, but this was something urgent. Your uncle suffered a big loss in a business deal, so your papa had to leave urgently. But he promised that as soon as he returns, he will spend an entire day with his princess."
Hearing this, Tanya's eyes sparkled with hope. She turned towards her mumma and asked, "Really, mumma? Papa won't go to the office, right?"
Ishita smiled and said, "Yes, my baby. Now, quickly get ready. Mumma has picked out your favorite white dress for you. Hurry up and come downstairs for breakfast. I've made your favorite burger and fries, and also a KitKat shake just for you."
