"Isn't it too political, under the guise of kindness?" read Maureen from an online comment. "The majority of participants are prominent officials, including the president."
She turned to Yuna with a sharp gaze, pressing, "Does this mean Zack is showing his support for the president and the politicians here?"
Maureen was on the hunt for loopholes, her eyes narrowing as she searched for any chance to distract and discredit Yuna. Despite the high-profile attendees, who were notoriously disliked for their corrupt reputations, her goal was to exploit any controversy or distraction to undermine the event and embarrass Yuna.
"We have more years to go for election day. Isn't it a piece of overwhelming evidence that a kindness deed creates profoundness?"
Her beam was radiant as she responded wisely.
Maureen should practice concealing her emotions. As the camera zoomed in on her face, she looked increasingly irritated.
"Well... Let's start the eagerly anticipated bidding right away. Are you as excited to see what's inside the box as I am?" Maureen announced, extending her microphone to the audience.
'Let's see how you will maintain that stupid face of you b***h.'
Her countenance radiated a carefully crafted excitement as she leaned into her plot. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation and cunning, her smile wide and purposeful.
*Whooosh*
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd, followed by a stunned silence. The grand anticipation that had filled the air turned to disbelief and confusion.
The laser stage lights, which had highlighted the boxes with an air of mystery and excitement, now cast a harsh shadow. What had been expected as rare and valuable treasures were now exposed as a collection of discarded trinkets and shabby items.
While the audience tried to process the unexpected events, the live viewers erupted with mockery, their comments filled with scathing remarks and laughing emojis. The once-charmed atmosphere of the event had turned into a chaotic scene of outrage and ridicule.
The objects hidden within the boxes differed from what Zack and Victor had prepared.
Victor, seated near the stage and hidden behind a face mask, glared with an intensity that could have cut through steel. His raven eyes seemed to promise retribution for anyone mocking Yuna. If looks could kill, his lethal stare would have already silenced all the critics.
Zack's grandfather snorted the cigar smoke as he giggled till tears welled up in his eyes. Then he clapped and dragged his chair closer to the television.
He was ecstatic with the hatred Yuna had gotten from live broadcast viewers, and he anticipated Yuna would crumble under the pressure.
"I admired your wife's ability to stand still with a confident expression. But how could she dare to auction off a collection of unknown rubbish to those people? I suppose I don't have to work much to ruin you."
Zack couldn't hide his scowl. The first item revealed was a wooden toy they had seen displayed in the treehouse. His face twisted in anger and confusion as he wondered who took it from the treehouse.
As she glanced at the screen, her expression shifted into a smirk. Her calm and composed demeanor contrasted sharply with the turmoil around her.
Victor and Zack knew that kind of smile exactly! They got butterflies in their stomachs as they knew how terrifying she could be.
"Somebody spoiled the element of surprise." As she joked, her grin remained courteous.
Yuna took the wooden toy from the box and held it up with a poised gesture. "Let's start the bidding auction," she announced.
