Kaiyah Kashiki, a young Indian girl with an uncaring family, one that's forgets she exists or forgets her needs. Father would scold Kaiyah if she asked for anything, even food. Mother would ignore Kaiyah if she asked for anything, even water.

School was hard too. Kaiyah was the outcast of 8th grade. Always being joked about and treated as if she wasn't even there. Her teachers didn't really seem to care about her.

Kaiyah wanted out so she found a way.

She finds comfort in a bookstore. It had big crystal windows and doors that could allow giants in. Kaiyah visited every afternoon. Her parents didn't even notice she was gone.

One day she visited the bookstore. It felt different, as if something was wrong.

Upon entering the store, she is immediately greeted by the smell of old books, and the comforting atmosphere of the shop. The store owner, a kind middle aged man, sees her enter and smiles warmly.

"Hello Kaiyah! Are you looking for anything in particular?" He asks kindly.

Kaiyah smiles, "Hi George. Can I see the old books?"

The man nods, "Of course! Right this way." He says, leading her to a section filled with old, leather bound books. "Feel free to take any you want."

She browsed through for a few minutes, brushing her fingers throughout the books. She stopped at a book titled 'A Fairy Tale'.

It was a beautiful book. Sure it had a few rips in it, but its leather was vibrant and soft. It was a mix of purple and pink. Golden ties around it. The words 'A Fairy Tale' written on the front.

The summary on that back tells a story about a girl named Celeste Lumina, a princess with magical powers. She goes on adventures with her family and friends everyday. She also solves mysteries along the way.

Kaiyah hummed, "Aren't there legends of this story?" She paused, "That people have gone missing apon reading it."

The store owner chuckles softly,
"Oh, you mean that old thing? Yes, I've heard about those rumors. Supposedly it's cursed. Though, I always thought those to be just rumors." He says with a shrug.

He continues speaking, noticing her interest in the book

"You know, that book has been here since I opened this shop. Nobody's ever really taken any interest in it, honestly I thought about throwing it out several times." He continued.

Kaiyah was interested, she was quite the daring girl, "I'll try it!"

George looks at her a grin on his face, "Are you sure? I've heard nothing but scary stories about that book."

"Oh come on! Scary stories are just stories people tell at a campfire to scare kids! Besides, it looks interesting."  Kaiyah holds the book to her chest.

George smiles, "Well, if you insist." He takes her library card and hands her the book. "Just remember, you can't return it once you purchase it."

As she takes the book, she gets this strange feeling in her gut, a feeling of unease. Yet she pushes it down, and slowly opens the book to begin reading.

she closes it due to the unnerving feeling, "I should get home."

The store owner nods, "Be careful going home, it's already starting to get dark outside."

"Bye George!"

"Bye Kaiyah!"

He waves goodbye to the young girl. Kaiyah runs home, as if she's running at the speed of light.
