WINTER EVERHEART NEVER WANTED TO BE A DEMIGOD. She didn't even know what a demigod was until that fateful day. Ever since Winter was young, she knew she was different, in the sense that she felt like she never belonged anywhere. Though that was the total opposite, she was always surrounded by others and her life was filled with love and support. At the age of 6, she was diagnosed with dyslexia and a year later, ADHD. There were days where she would come home crying to her father, telling him she felt alone and that she felt out of place. As a father, he felt his heart break for his precious princess, he wanted to tell her everything but he knew she was still too young to understand any of it. So he did what he could do best, which was to soothe and comfort his aching daughter. As she grew older, she started seeing things, like animals. Like just the other day, she was in class, she was listening to her teacher talk when out of the corner of her eye, she saw a pegasus. She slowly turned her head and started back at it, she then looked around her class, seeing if anyone else was seeing what she was seeing but they were concentrated on the teacher. She looked back at the pegasus and felt a strong urge to go to it which is exactly what she did. She stood up from her seat, her eyes glued on the creature."Ms. Everheart, is there something you would like to say to the class?" Asked the teacher, his eyes on Winter, his eyebrows furrowed as Winter didn't even glance at him, her eyes still glued to the window. He followed her gaze to the window and saw she was staring at nothing. " Ms. Everheart?" He asked, concerned . She didn't budge at all as he began to walk towards her desk. That's when Winter snapped out of her trance, she looked away from the window and looked at her teacher, who was now beside her desk. A look of concern displayed on his face," Are you alright, Ms. Everheart?" Winter looked at the teacher in confusion and then turned to look at the window, and saw the pegasus was gone, nowhere to be seen. Winter could feel all her classmates gazes in her, her face felt hot. She desperately wanted to get out of their view so she shook her head, no. " Do you want to go to the nurse's office?" He asked, she nodded, her eyes glued to the floor, " okay." Once He said that she left the classroom as quickly as possible. That day she ended up getting picked up early by her father, as her father drove home, he would quietly glance over at his daughter, who was staring out the window. Tear stains covered her face, the whole way home was quiet, once they had gotten home. Winter headed straight to her bedroom, she face-planted onto her bed and began to cry into her pillow, hoping it would muffle her cries. Winter ended up crying herself to sleep, she was fast asleep when she felt something or someone shaking her awake. Winter's eyes fluttered open and she was meet with a panicked look on her father's face," Winter get up! Get up now! You have to leave now!" Her father was talking way to fast for her to understand, " wha-" she felt a bag shoved into her hands which angered her" Dad, what the-" she saw the look on her father's face and she felt her heart sink in her stomach, he grabbed her arm and lifted her up and brought her to window in her bedroom. He began to open the window" Dad, what's going on? What's wrong?" Winter watched as her father struggled to get the window open, his hands trembling, her eyes saddened. She put the bag on her back and put her hand on top of her dad's, he looked her, shocked as she helped him open window. Once the window was open, her dad faced her, sadness shadowed his eyes, he gently leaned forward and place a delicate kiss on her forehead. He put his hand on her shoulders, looking her straight in the eyes" Winter, you have to leave, slow slide-down the roof as carefully as you can, it's not a long way. Once you are at the bottom, run and don't look back." " Dad! What are you talking about?" Winter's dad could hear footsteps nearing the stairs as he shoved his daughter to the window, " Winter go now! I love you, okay? Don't forget that." Winter ducked her head and turned one last time to her dad, tears filled her eyes " go and don't look back." Winter slowly nodded and slid down the small roof and landed into a bush. She climbs out the bush and brushes herself off. She hears something like animal sounds but as she is about to turn around, she remembers her father's words and she starts to run. She ran as fast her feet could carry her, and had no idea where she was going but she kept moving. Winter didn't remember how long she ran for but she ended up finding herself in the woods. Her hair was a mess and she was covered in dirt was thirsty and hungry. Winter tried to catch her breath but it was really hard to, she took a deep breath in and out and slumped herself against a tree, she took her backpack off and put it next to her. She decided to look in the bag to see what her dad put in the bag. One of the first things she saw was water, she grabbed it and began to drink it, she gulped it down. She almost choked, she let out a sigh and stared up at the starry sky. She thought all that happened, her mind wandered over to her father, wondering if he was okay. That's when she heard screeching and then a dark voice spoke," I found you." Winter sprung up and swung her bag onto her back, she glanced around, wondering who was speaking to her when she saw the creature, it came right at her. It scratched her cheek, as she dogged its lung at her, her feet moved on their own as she began to run. She ran at the speed of light, she never saw herself as a runner but then again this is a life or death situation. The fury tried to strike her again but missed as something had blocked its way. It was the pegasus from earlier. The beautiful creature had stood in front of Winter, its hooves in the air, causing the fury to fall back a bit. " The Pegasus looked at Winter and bowed its head at her, she smiled and did the same. She took this as her cue to run, until she couldn't anymore. She placed her hands on her knees trying to catch her breath, once she was able too. She looked at her surroundings, everything was so beautiful and peaceful. It wasn't until her eyes landed on what looked like camp. She smiled, ' safety' as she neared the place, little did she know that she was entering a camp called "Camp Half-blood" a place filled with demigods like herself.

A COUPLE WEEKS LATER.... Winter was welcomed into the camp with open arms, the head of the camp, Chiron had introduced Winter to Annabeth, the daughter of Athena. The moment they meet they clicked and were attached to the hip. Annabeth tried her best to explain to Winter that they were Demi-gods which she had a hard time believing, till she told her about the dyslexia and ADHD. Annabeth knew exactly how Winter felt, that was the first time she felt understood and seen. Annabeth showed Winter to Hermes cabin in which that was her temporary stay till her mother claimed her. That was when she meet Luke, Luke was very welcoming to Winter and accepted her like a sibling. He made sure that she was comfortable and she was safe, she looked up to him. Winter could tell her best friend had a crush on Luke and would tease her about it. Everywhere Winter went, she attracted attention. The way her brown hair bounced as she walked and the way her eyes sparkled when her face lit up caused many to swoon for her. One day, as Winter was sitting under a tree, reading the Greek version of " Cruel Prince." Her nose was deep into the her book when she heard footsteps, she lifted her head up and made up eye contact with a boy. He had green eyes and brown hair, he had a shy expression, Winter blinked at him in confusion. Then it clicked she has seen him looking at her, a few times. She booked marked her book and closed it, she looked up at him with smile," Hi, how can I help you?" The boy was a bit stunned and looked at her, " I wanted to-um, tell you something." Winter rose a brow and sat her book in the floor and stood up. She walked closer to the boy as the boy backed up, his eyes wandered, refusing to look at her. "Hey, it's okay, take as much time as you need." She said reassuringly, the boy composed himself and relaxed, " I-I wanted to tell you that-" the boy took a huge pause, his heartbeat pounding in his chest, " I like you." Winter's eyes widened, "you like me?" The boy just stared at the ground," yeah I do, for a while now." " Oh wow," Winter had literally no words, she gulped, as she didn't want to say the next words that came out her mouth," I am really sorry but I don't feel the same way." In that moment, Winter glowed pink and the boy shielded his eyes as so did Winter. Once, the glowing stopped, the boy looked up and his jaw dropped. Winter, confused by his face, glanced up and saw a dove hovering over her head. That was the day she was claimed by her mother, not only that but she found out she was daughter of Aphrodite.
