Chapter 2
When I wake up its almost 1 pm and everyone is already downstairs when I get there. “Go back to sleep you’ve already slept all day.” Says Aaron. “Shut up.” I say as I grab a pillow to throw at him. I throw the pillow and run trying to get away when Dad comes up in front of me and carries me away. “You know what you have today right?” Dad said. “No, what?” I said. “Archery lessons.” Dad said. “Yay!” I say as I run to tell Aaron. “Guess what I have today?” I say, before he gets a chance to answer I say “Archery lessons!” “Cool I have baking… wait why did they get us both lessons for two different things on the same day?” “I don’t know. Who cares? I get to be like Mom!” I say. “Of course they want you to be like Mom and me to be like…” he says before Mom comes downstairs and interrupts him telling us to get ready. I go upstairs and find green pants, a black shirt, a black and red jacket, black boots, and a Mockingjay pin on my bed. Mom probably got these for me.
I put them and go downstairs to show her. She smiles when she sees me then ties up my boots. “Hair time.” She says as she leads the way to her bathroom. When we get there she takes my brown hair out of the ponytail its in and braids it to look just like hers did in a picture she has on the wall of her, Dad, and a strange man she calls Haymitch. Before we leave she checks me over one more time, hair, clothes, shoes, and everything else, then she straightens my Mockingjay pin. “There you’re all ready.” She says. Then when we get to the door she looks down at the back of my shirt and says, “Oh, you better tuck in that tail little duck.”
