Present Day, Year 1573...

Somewhere in the middle of a desert... Under the relentless sun, the desert stretched out in all directions, a sea of golden dunes and harsh, arid winds. The sky was a blinding blue, devoid of clouds, with the sun hanging high above, casting its unforgiving light across the barren land. The heat shimmered in the air, distorting the horizon and making it difficult to tell where the earth ended and the sky began.

Through this inhospitable landscape, a lone figure trudged onward, his steps sure despite the endless waves of sand. The man was tall, with his entire body wrapped in long, flowing robes, protecting him from the sun's fierce rays. His face was obscured by a black eyemask adorned with a golden motif, the small jewel dangling from it catching the light with every step. His right arm, wrapped in cloth, showed faint hints of golden cracks that pulsed faintly beneath the fabric.

"Another fine day in paradise!" His voice rang out in the stillness, breaking the silence of the desert. There was a lilt of humor in his tone, a brightness that contrasted starkly with the harsh environment around him. He paused for a moment, lifting his head as if he could see the endless expanse before him, though his eyes remained hidden beneath the mask.

"You know, if I had known that searching for a cure would lead me to this oven, I might have reconsidered. But then again, what's life without a bit of adventure, right?" He chuckled to himself, a sound that carried on the wind.

Despite his apparent blindness, He moved with ease, navigating the shifting sands as if they were solid ground. His steps were light, almost carefree, as he continued his journey. The golden cracks on his right arm seemed to glow faintly in response to his thoughts, a constant reminder of the "curse" he bore.

"Ah, the 'curse'..." he mused, his voice softening. "Well, it could be worse, I suppose. At least it makes for a great conversation starter. 'Hey, I'm Kōrin, the guy with the glowing golden cracks! Pretty neat, huh?" He grinned, his expression hidden behind the mask, but the warmth in his voice was unmistakable.

He stopped for a moment, reaching out with his left hand to touch the golden jewel hanging from his mask, a gesture that had become almost instinctual over the years.

"Still, it would be nice to find a way to fix this... thing. Whatever it is." His voice grew quieter, more contemplative. "I've seen so much, yet the answer keeps slipping through my fingers like sand. But I won't give up. There's a cure out there somewhere, and I'll find it. Even if it means wandering through every desert, climbing every mountain, and crossing every sea..."

He resumed his trek, the sound of his footsteps the only noise in the vast emptiness. The desert seemed endless, but Kōrin's spirit remained undaunted. He was a man on a mission, driven by a determination that no mere curse could dampen.

"Well, Kōrin, old boy, let's see what's over the next dune. Maybe I'll find a nice oasis with a cool drink and some answers. Or at least some shade. That would be nice." His voice was light, almost playful, as he marched onward, a lone figure in the vastness of the desert.

The journey was long, and the sun was merciless, but Kōrin Takashi walked with a smile in his heart, his steps carrying him ever closer to his goal-no matter how distant it might be...

As he crested a large dune, Kōrin paused. His senses extended outward, and the world around him came alive in his mind's eye. His power allowed him to 'see' in a way that most could never comprehend. A golden sonar pulsed from him, scanning the nearby area. The echoes returned to him, painting a vivid picture of the landscape within a kilometer's radius.

It was then that he sensed it-a village, small and tucked away in the desert's embrace. He could see the outlines of buildings, the shapes of people going about their lives, all through the golden waves that rippled through the air.
