Autumn was driving along EDSA when the rain started to pour. Traffic was becoming heavy, and her frustration was growing. As she glanced around at the motorists, an Angkas motorbike caught her eye because of the passenger with red hair who looked familiar.
The Angkas driver pulled over, and both he and the passenger got off the bike as he retrieved a raincoat from the seat compartment.
The traffic inched forward, but Autumn kept her gaze on the motorbike until it suddenly slipped on the wet road, causing both the driver and passenger to fall. Without hesitation, she turned on her hazard lights, grabbed an umbrella, and walked toward the scene where the two passengers were still on the ground, thankfully only slightly shaken.
Millicent looked up, her face slightly wet from the rain, and saw Autumn standing over her, holding the umbrella.
"Mills, sumabay ka na sa 'kin. Hatid na kita," Autumn offered gently.
Millicent, a new singer just starting her career, thought that this pretty woman wanting to help her might be a fan.
Autumn noticed Mills' confusion. "I'm friends with Grace and Nicole. I know your handler too. Gusto mo, hatid na kita sa condo ni Grace or Nicole? I can call them para di ka magduda."
Autumn stretched her hand forward, offering it to Millicent, who was still sitting on the wet ground. By now, a few passersby had started to watch the scene unfold.
Paano ako nakilala nito eh nakahelmet ako, Mills thought.
Wanting to escape the situation, Mills reluctantly took Autumn's hand and stood up. Once they were both inside Autumn's Bronco, her savior asked, "Nasaktan ka ba? Gusto mo ba sa hospital nalang tayo tumuloy?"
"Ah no, I'm okay. Thank you—"
"Autumn," she introduced herself.
"Thank you, Autumn," Mills smiled, grateful. "Ihahatid mo talaga ako?"
"Yup! Saan ka ba? Lagay mo nalang dito sa Waze," Autumn said.
Millicent hesitated, embarrassed about her situation. Having no gigs and barely any money, she didn't want to reveal that her apartment wasn't that nice.
"Uh... sa condo nalang ni Nics. Malapit lang naman ako dun," Mills said.
"Bakit di sa place mo? Di naman ako stalker. Pero sige..." Autumn said with a playful smile as she started driving. The traffic was slow, but they arrived at Nicole's condo after about 30 minutes.
"Thank you talaga ah," Mills said gratefully.
"Anytime, Mills. I'm a fan. Pasabi nalang kay Nics nauna na ako. May pupuntahan pa 'ko eh," Autumn said, and they shared an awkward hug before Mills got off.
Inside Nicole's condo, Mills collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted from everything.
"Pre, may gig ka ba?" Mills asked, her voice low.
