POV:

Adam Hansen

Flora is this wild, irresistible spirit. I'm so lost in her, I can't get enough. After everything, her face is flushed, her eyes watery, and she's catching her breath. I love every little bit of her in these moments.

Her legs slip weakly from around my waist, so I pull her closer, wrapping my arms tighter around her.

"I've got you, Luna."

Her eyes are shut, hands still draped over my neck, and I can feel the aftershocks still running through her. I shift our positions, laying her on top of me like a lazy kitten, snuggled up against my chest.

"Adam," she whispers.

God, I love when she says my name like that. Not "Mr. Hansen" like I'm a stranger, but soft, almost like a sigh.

"Good ?" I ask, and as the evening breeze drifts in through the open window, she shivers. I pull the blanket over her and hold her tighter, giving her more warmth.

After a moment, she murmurs against my chest. "Tomorrow's the day."

I smile. "Yeah," I say, giving her waist a gentle squeeze.

"It's all good. Don't worry."

She lifts her head and glares at me with those beautiful eyes.

"I only wanted a hookup! Everything was fine until you showed up. If you hadn't marked me in the bathroom, none of this would've happened."

"Huh?" I raise an eyebrow at her. "Why settle for a hookup? The Moon Goddess already told me you're mine. Besides, I don't lack hookups."

"You didn't even ask before marking me. That's on you." She totally ignores everything I just said, not even caring if I've had other hookups.

"Well, you ran off before we could talk. Then I saw you with that other wolf, and I was going crazy with jealousy!" I shrug. "Yeah, I was impulsive, but I don't regret it."

She glares at me, cheeks puffed and lips pouting in anger. I just want to kiss her, and she notices the lust building in my eyes, smacking my chest hard. I can't help but laugh out loud.

"Jerk," she mutters.

"Only for you," I reply, kissing her nose softly.

The next morning, I slip out of bed quietly. Flora is still fast asleep, worn out from all the sex activities in the past few days . Meanwhile, I feel completely refreshed.

She's curled up on her side, hands tucked under her pillow, her reddish-brown curls spilling over her forehead. I gently brush them back behind her ear and kiss her cheek softly.

"Be back soon. We'll run together later.

—--- Love you, Adam."

I leave a note on the pillow, quietly close the door, and head out to my car, driving towards the Creek Werewolf Packhouse in the forest town.

Following the forest road near Flora's house, I pass the town center and arrive at the northern edge of the border, where our Packhouse is. It looks like a mountain resort, with a huge wooden sign out front and tall wooden gates guarded by sentries. I roll down my window and wave at the Beta werewolf in the guard post.

"Hey, Mr. Hansen. You here for the weekend meeting?" It's old Mr. Black, the same guard from my childhood.

"Yeah, Mr. Black."

He nods respectfully, and the heavy wooden gates creak open. I drive in, thanking him as I go.

The Packhouse is massive, a three-story wooden building that looks like a resort. The first floor has a big meeting hall, a ballroom, and a dining area. The second floor is offices, and the third floor is where the Alpha's office is—my dad used to work here with his team. Back in high school, I'd come in to help with paperwork. There's even a private lounge.

Behind the main building is a big training ground. It's sometimes used for bonfire parties, hidden among tall trees. There are cabins for the patrol teams, dorms, a cafeteria, and guest houses for visitors.

I park next to the main building, climb the steps, and head inside. The ballroom is right in front, but I head down the hallway to the meeting room. Even before I step in, I can sense about a dozen wolves inside. The chatter dies down as they feel me approaching, and by the time I open the door, the room is silent.

The core wolves of the forest town are here, including Gary Elsie from the patrol squad. He straightens up as soon as he sees me, and the others follow suit, lowering their heads slightly in respect. I nod back. To be honest, this is the first time I've returned to the Creek Pack in my adulthood. City life made me almost forget I'm still the leader of this werewolf tribe.

"Mr. Hansen, thank you for attending this meeting," says an older werewolf, stepping forward. He's still built like a tank, with that natural air of a forest wolf, sharp eyes, and calm authority. "I'm Jack Elsie, Gary's father. I asked him to invite you to this meeting."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Elsie."

We shake hands, then take our seats. Naturally, I sit where my dad used to—at the head of the table. Everyone else takes the remaining seats.

"Mr. Elsie, Gary told me the patrol team spotted wolves from the Red Moon pack near the forest border. Do we have any solid proof they crossed into our territory without permission?"

"Yes. We placed cameras on the border. Some were damaged, but one hidden camera caught them near the upper creek. The patrol team found their scent and tracks soon after."

As he speaks, Gary switches on the projector, showing video and photos. The footage is from an infrared camera. In the darkness, a few male wolves pace along the creek, sniffing around. They head downstream, toward our town, then vanish. The photos show messy tracks, as if they tried to cover their trail and avoid the cameras.

"It's like they were looking for something." my wolf instincts tell me.

We've had peace with the Red Moon Pack for years. There's been no real interaction, except that one time back when I was a student. My dad made their leader apologize, promising it wouldn't happen again. But now, they've crossed our land without a word, clearly drawn by something they're keeping secret.

"How disrespectful," I mutter, watching the video. I turn to the others, my expression serious. "I'll call my father to update him. Before we escalate things, we'll reach out to the Red Moon leader for an explanation."

I pause, then add, "I'll be staying here for a while. I'm joining the patrol team."

Gary looks shocked, glancing at his father, who seems to understand my reasoning. Jack nods, then quietly discusses the situation with the other members. In their minds, the Hansen family, as leaders of the Creek pack, have always advocated for peace. We moved to the city to expand the pack's business empire, providing a comfortable life for all our members. We'd never engage in violent conflict between packs unless absolutely necessary.

An Alpha joining the patrol? That sends a powerful message—a warning. It's a delicate signal in werewolf politics, one that could stir trouble.

But, Flora's here. I can't leave my mate. I have to protect her.
