This is a tradition I now have with all of my books once they come to an end. But, I think this one might be my favorite considering everything.
On the cover, I used an image of Christian Serratos with a Ghostface mask. She is the official face claim for Cassandra/Christina.
Every chapter in the book is named after a movie that was made prior to the chapter's events.
Cassandra's favorite singer is Selena Quintanilla, whom Christian Serratos portrayed in the Netflix series. Billy outright tells her on their diner date that Cassandra "looks like her".
Cassandra is the one who talked Casey Becker into breaking up with Stu Macher. She has survivor's guilt and just guilt in general because she wonders if that means she got Casey killed in a way. Plus, Cassandra ends up marrying Stu in the years following.
Cassandra's mother was 19 years younger than her husband. He trapped her with a pregnancy and she wasn't able to leave him, quickly followed by years of abuse. She took her own life in the bathtub and Cassandra was the one to find the body. In a way, this mirrors Cassandra's future. She wasn't sure if she truly loved Billy (or Stu especially) or if it was Stockholm Syndrome mixed with survivor's guilt. Billy impregnated her and she knew there was nothing she could truly do to escape the fate she now had- even if all she wanted was to find Casey's killer.
There are multiple references to Jordan Peele and how he is assumed to be a teacher at Woodsboro High.
I always had a soft spot for Principal Himbry because he reminds me of my old principal from elementary school. I used to call him Himbry even back then and he once dressed as Ghostface for a Halloween event at the school because of it.
In the chapter "Basic Instinct", Cassandra rightfully assumes one of the killers is Stu. It's her instinct being totally correct, which leads to her calling him out in front of everyone multiple times. But, in honor of the first Scream, no one was prepared for there to be two killers. While she was correct, she was only half right, much like her future daughter Tara when she gets the Ghostface call to start of Scream 5. (It also ties back to Tara being Stu's daughter. Ironic considering her mother was right about her father being the killer.)
In the chapter "Grease", Billy and Cass go to a diner called "Frosty Palace" which is the name of the diner from the movie "Grease". It is also a chapter based around them as they compare movies to music. The chapter name is based of a movie that is a musical- combining their two worlds to show the two of them coming together <3.
In the chapter "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare", Cassandra punches one of the kids playing the Ghostface prank in the halls. The janitor, Fred, tells her "Like kung fu, bitch". The janitor is played by Wes Craven himself who directed both Scream and the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. After Cassandra punches the guy pulling the prank, Fred tells her she had a nice punch and that it was like "kung fu, bitch". This is a direct reference to Freddy's line in "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" when he pulls his Mortal Kombat punch.
