Naruto stopped walking and slowly turned his head toward Kushina.

His expression was flat. Unmoved.

"Zabuza is coming," he repeated calmly.

Kushina's heart began racing. "Why would he come back? He barely escaped last time! What did you do?!" Her voice rose, panic bleeding into it.

Naruto frowned.

"Shut the hell up, old hag."

The words hit harder than any slap.

"I invited him," Naruto continued lazily. "Offered a temporary ceasefire. Gave him a good deal."

Kushina's eyes widened. "You WHAT?!"

She immediately dropped into a fighting stance.

"If you're threatening my team—"

A flick.

That was all it was.

A casual flick of his fingers.

The cigarette shot forward like a bullet and struck her forehead before she even processed the movement. Kushina yelped, stumbling back, more shocked by the speed than the sting.

Naruto looked unimpressed.

"Overconfident bitch."

Kushina clenched her fists, fury mixing with fear.

"I'm not going to hurt them," Naruto said coldly. "Unless they attack first. Then I'll gladly kill them."

His eyes darkened.

"They're easy to kill. You should know that. You have experience."

Kushina froze.

The memory slammed into her.

That night.

His fist.
Her bones breaking.
Blood filling her mouth.
The darkness swallowing her whole.

The coma.

Naruto chuckled softly, watching the color drain from her face.

"I was hoping that coma gave you time to think."

Her breathing grew uneven.

"You were lucky," Naruto continued, his voice almost conversational. "I showed you mercy."

Kushina's stomach dropped.

Mercy?

Her broken ribs.
Her shattered arm.
Her crushed leg.
Her face beaten beyond recognition.
A year and a half in a hospital bed.

That was mercy?

Her eyes trembled.

If that was mercy...

She didn't want to know what cruelty looked like.

Naruto stepped closer, towering over her without even trying.

"You're alive because I allowed it," he said quietly. "Don't mistake that for weakness."

The air felt suffocating.

Then he turned away again, as if the conversation bored him.

"Get your team ready. Zabuza won't hesitate next time."

He began walking toward the bridge, hands in his pockets, posture relaxed.

Kushina stood there, shaking.

For the first time since he returned, she fully understood something terrifying.

Naruto Uzumaki had not lost control that night years ago.
