Talia steps out of the shower, steam rising from her tanned skin. She wraps a white, fluffy towel around her naked figure and makes her way to the bedroom.
She didn't even run for a mile. It hurt too much. Her body cramped in ways it never did, and she was quicker to lose her breath than she used to be.
The blonde was almost positive she was fine this morning, she truly believed she just had a stomach bug, but it just didn't make sense. So now she was getting dressed in a pair of Alex's sweatpants and one of her tank tops.
Alex always complained that she wore his clothes too often, but she knew he loved when she wore his clothes. Especially in public, so every man who looked in her direction knew she was taken. She couldn't lie, she liked it too.
Her phone rings, and her brows twist in confusion as she pulls her tank top over her head. She grabs her phone and turns it over to see the caller ID letting out a soft curse when she sees Alex's name.
"Hi, babe." she greets him with as much excitement as she possibly can.
"You didn't go to the doctor's yet have you?" Alex accuses, his voice flat.
Talia scoffs "Bold of you to assume I haven't." she argues.
Alex chuckles from the other side of the phone, causing Talia's stomach to flutter at the sound. "You've never been a good liar, love."
Talia stays silent and huffs as she grabs her car keys "Well, I'm on my way to the clinic." she tells him as she makes her way through her house.
"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Alex questions, "The work day is slow anyway. Nobody would notice if I slipped out for a few hours." The brunette tries convincing his wife.
The corner of Talia's mouth twitches up and she shakes her head at her husband's words. "I assure you I can manage a visit to the clinic. I'm not dying." Talia tells him.
"You never know," Alex spoke so softly Talia had to strain her ear to hear him. She wished she didn't. Her thoughts start swimming with all the different possibilities. Was it possible for her to have cancer at just 24? Yes, it was, and that's scared her.
"I'll call you as soon as I find out what's going on, I promise. I love you." Talia speaks up after a moment, trying to keep her voice steady.
"I love you, too," Alex responds before Talia hangs up and pockets her phone.
The drive to the clinic was short and quiet and now Talia sat in the waiting room bouncing her knee and different possibilities swimming in her head. The blonde's phone sat face down on the seat beside her. She had scared herself when she was on her phone. It gave her to much access to scarier possibilities. One article had even told her she had two weeks to live.
"Why are you sad?" Talia's thoughts are stopped by the small, high voice.
"I'm sorry?" Talia blinks with a small smile looking at the small girthat stood in front of her. Her outfit didn't match in the slightest. Purple rain boots, red leggings, a pink tutu, an Elsa shirt and to top it all off, she wore a plastic gold tiara with fake pink diamonds on top of her dark black hair.
"Why are you so sad?" The girl repeats, an older woman with tired eyes that matched the brown color of the little girl's puts a hand on the small child's shoulder.
"Honey, that's rude." she tells her, flashing Talia an apologetic smile.
Talia returns her smile, shifting in her seat to get comfortable "It's alright," her gaze flickers back down to the small child in front of her "I just don't like hospitals." She tells the little girl, which was true in a way, she didn't like needles, therefore she didn't like hospitals.
The child smiles showing her teeth where Talia could see her two front teeth missing, she must be five or six. "I don't like them either." She admits "Why are you here? You don't look sick." She questions looking Talia up and down.
Talia smiles gently "I've been having some stomach problems and my husband wants to make sure I'm not sick." She explains to the small child.
The girl squeals excitingly "You have a husband?!" She asks.
Talia chuckles lightly "Mhm," she tells her.
"Like Cinderella?" The child questions.
"Like Cinderella." Talia confirms, she looks the child up and down "You wanna know a secret?" She whispers.
The girl nods enthusiastically and cups her hands over her ear causing Talia to chuckle again before whispering "I think you're prettier then Cinderella." She tells her.
The dark haired girl blushes and smiles wider if even possible "Mommy let me dress myself today." She explains pulling away and doing a twirl, stumbling slightly and giggling at her own slip up.
"You look stunning." Talia tells the girl causes her to giggle again.
"Talia Feder." A voice calls, Talia looks up from the small girl to see the door open a woman in hospital scrubs waiting for her, a clipboard clutched in her hand.
"Talia is a pretty name." The small girl tells the blonde as Talia gets to her feet.
"What's your name?" Talia questions her.
"Sofia." She answers with a bashful look while she plays with the ends of her tutu.
Talia smiles "That's a pretty name. Bye Sofia."
"Bye-bye Talia," she waves with a smile and Talia waves back before she is taken to the back.
Her stomach jerks violently and she puts a hand over her stomach, frowning as the nurse leads her to room 7.
"The doctor will be in here shortly." The nurse smiles before leaving Talia alone in the small room.
She sits on the hospital bed fiddling with the strings of Alex's sweatpants she wore. The blonde almost regretted telling Alex to go to work, wishing he was here to hold her hand. Rubbing his thumb over her knuckles while whispering sweet encouraging nothings.
A few minutes pass and a tall red headed woman comes in and for some reason Talia's mind drifts to Sofia.
She never asked why she was in the emergency room. She hoped Sofia and her mother were both okay.
