The situation inside Mo manor is getting more intense. The dark energy circulating inside the manor is getting more suffocating, but that's the least of the problem now. The main problem is right there in the middle of the room, surrounded by the Gusu Lan Sect cultivators.
"Sizhui! Careful!"
A teenager dressed in a plain white robe pulls his friend away from the impending danger. He immediately threw a rope, trying to bind Young Master Mo, but failed when the said Young Master dodged it. The group of young cultivators immediately back away as Young Master Mo launched another attack, trying to grab them.
"Jingyi! I will distract him. Call for Hanguang Jun."
With that said, Sizhui unsheate his sword and moved forward, attacking the guy and trying to force him away from the others. Swords clashing sound can be heard as the 2 men fighting, one is blindly attacking while the other tries his best to defend while trying to keep the possessed man away from his fellow friends and Mo Manor's servants.
Meanwhile, Jingyi was about to send a distress signal to the air when someone violently pushed him towards the corner. His back collided with the wall, causing him to groan at the force. Before he can do anything, a hand catches his neck, choking him while lifting him in the air. He can see the Old Master Mo is the one choking him through his teary visions, his eyes white, and there are veiny black marks on his neck and face.
We are doomed.. Jingyi tries to gasp for air. The grip on his neck is so tight that he fears his neck will snap at any moment. He is desperately trying to kick and punch the Old Master Mo, but he failed miserably. No one can come to his aid now. Sizhui is busy fighting with Young Master Mo while the others are currently being attacked by Madam Mo. No one can come to his aid now.
Meanwhile, the talisman he is supposed to use to call for help is sadly lying on the floor, out of his reach. Jingyi tries his best to concentrate and gather the flow of whatever energy left inside of him to try and reach for the talisman. He can see the black dots covering his vision as his lungs are burning with the lack of oxygen. Is this how he is going to die?
Damn.. This is definitely not a cool way to die..
Just as he was about to give up on life, he found himself on the floor, coughing his lungs out, gasping for air. Once he calmed down, he looked at the man dressed in black standing in front of him. The mysterious man places a talisman on the back of Old Master Mo, restricting his movement before he launches an attack to help Sizhui.
Who is that? Jingyi couldn't see his face as it was covered with a silver mask. Only the lower half of his face is visible, and that doesn't give enough clue for Jingyi to guess the identity of that mysterious man. His fighting style is definitely of someone with a lot of experience, and he doesn't look too old nor too young. That man is probably around the same age as Hanguang Jun.
No! This is not the right time to play guees-who. I need to call for Hanguang Jun.
With that in mind, Jingyi crawls on the floor to get the talisman and launch it into the air, creating a firework of Lan clan symbol. He then gets on his feet and starts helping his fellow cultivators to bring down Madam Mo.
Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian was caught off guard when he heard the sound of fireworks. He turns to look at the sky, and his face paled, dreading at the thought that the more senior cultivators from Lan clan will be here at any moment. What if he comes here? That thought alone scared him. He doesn't know if he is ready to face that man again. He doesn't want to face the reality that Lan Zhan will look at him with hatred. After all, he is the Yilling Laozu. The evil cultivator who is not supposed to stand here today, alive.
"Argghh!"
Wei Wuxian's train of thought was cut short when he felt a sharp pain on his right arm. He looks at the nails digging his flesh, and he feels blood trickling down underneath his shirt. He pushes the Old Master Mo's body away from him successfully creating a bit of a distance between the man and him, which Sizhui takes the opportunity to bind the Old Master with a rope that comes out from inside his sleeve.
Suddenly, a sharp sound of zither, accompanied by a blue light, struck Young Master Mo, throwing him to the ground with a loud thud. Wei Wuxian didn't even have the time to look at the source when the second wave of blue light strikes. He didn't waste any time and immediately hid himself behind a nearby pillar.
He knows too well what that zither sound and the blue lights are. That is the Lan Clan special attack, Chord Assassination, which has only been taught to the direct descendants of the Gusu Lan, which means there are only two people who truly mastered the art of the said attack. Both of them are known as the Twin Jade of Gusu Lan, Lan Xichen, and Lan Wangji.
This is bad. This is really bad.
He needs to get out of there as soon as possible. He can't risk anyone who knew him in his previous life finding out that he is still alive. Without waiting to find out who the newcomer is, Wei Wuxian immediately escapes through the back door as fast as he can. Once he managed to slip past the door unnoticed, he immediately made a run, jumping up through the gate and disappeared into the forest. He can't let that man see him. Not now. Not ever. He doesn't know whom to trust, and it's better that he didn't meet him again, so he won't have to make a choice.
Amidst the chaos inside Mo Manor, Lan Wangji noticed a black figure escaping through the back door. That figure looks familiar. It looks like him, but that's impossible. He is dead. He witnessed it himself how that man fell down the hill that day at the nightless city sixteen years ago. He fights the urge to chase that person and focus on helping his junior cultivators bind all three of Mo's family members.
"Hanguang Jun. What is this evil spirit? Why is it so vicious?" Jingyi looks at Lan Wangji, who is silently walking towards Young Master Mo. He watches as the man puts two of his fingers on the veiny-like cracks on the Young Master's neck.
Those young cultivators' eyes widened when black energy switling around Lan Wangji's fingers. What is that thing? They have their fair share of experience dealing with spirits, but this is way different compared to those they encountered before. They can feel the resentment energy even when they are not the one touching the victim's body.
"Yin Hu Fu"
"Yin Hu Fu? As in the one that was used by Yilling Laozu?"
The junior cultivators look at each other, their mind racing with different conflicted thoughts. If it's Yin Hu Fu, does that mean the Yilling Laozu is back? Does that mean the disaster that the history will repeat itself? Will the cultivation world face a war again?
"Who was that man from before? The one dressed in black?" These two questions from Lan Wangji brought those cultivators' minds back to the presence.
"We don't know Hanguang Jun. He suddenly appeared here and helped Jingyi." Lan Sizhui replied.
"You didn't see his face?"
"He was wearing a mask. I do remember his hair was tied with a red ribbon. "
Jingyi's words caused Lan Wangji's breath to hitch. Red ribbon? Yin Hu Fu? Does that mean...
Wei Ying?
