Aarav had barely stepped into the office that morning when the news hit him like a punch to the gut. The boardroom was abuzz, whispers traveling like wildfire through the halls of his company. At first, he thought it was another ploy by Kabir Mittal to disrupt the flow of business, a petty attempt to rile him up. But this time, it wasn’t about the company. This time, it was personal.
Kabir stood at the head of the boardroom, smirking as he addressed a small gathering of executives and employees. “I thought it was time everyone knew the truth,” Kabir said, his voice oozing with the kind of satisfaction that only came from causing chaos. “Vivaan, our beloved doctor, is in love with Meera.”
Aarav froze. The room went silent as his mind struggled to process what he had just heard. His brother? Vivaan? In love with Meera?
Aarav’s vision narrowed, his heart racing with a mix of confusion and betrayal. How could Vivaan love Meera? How could he keep this from him?
Vivaan, who had been standing toward the back of the room, stepped forward, his face pale but calm. “Kabir, you don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, his voice firm but lacking the usual fire.
Kabir's smirk only widened as he turned to face Vivaan. “Oh, I know exactly what I’m talking about. I have it on good authority that you've been hiding your feelings for Meera for quite some time now. And poor Aarav... does he know?”
The weight of the room’s eyes turned to Aarav. He felt every gaze like a dagger. His chest tightened, and a familiar pain began to creep in—sharp and insistent. Not here, not now, he thought, forcing himself to stay composed.
“I don’t owe you an explanation, Kabir,” Vivaan said through gritted teeth, stepping closer. “This isn’t your business.”
“Oh, but it is,” Kabir countered, clearly enjoying the spectacle he had created. “Aarav has a right to know, doesn’t he? His twin brother is in love with the same woman he cares about.”
The air in the room became suffocating, the tension thick enough to cut through. Aarav’s heart hammered in his chest, the pain intensifying. His vision blurred for a moment, and he instinctively reached for the chair beside him, gripping it to steady himself. Vivaan’s eyes darted toward Aarav, immediately noticing the change in his demeanor.
“Aarav, breathe,” Vivaan said quickly, stepping toward his brother, but Aarav shook his head, still trying to process the storm of emotions swirling inside him.
“Is it true, Vivaan?” Aarav’s voice was barely audible, but the hurt was clear in his tone. “Do you… love Meera?”
Vivaan hesitated, the brief silence between them feeling like an eternity. Kabir watched the scene unfold with obvious satisfaction, leaning against the table as if he were the conductor of this disastrous orchestra.
“Aarav…” Vivaan began, his eyes soft with concern, “I care about Meera, but it’s not what Kabir is making it out to be. I—”
“You care about her?” Aarav repeated, his voice thick with disbelief. He could feel the weight pressing down on his chest, harder and harder. “You care about her, and you never told me?”
Vivaan reached out, but Aarav took a step back, his heart beating wildly. The room felt like it was spinning. Kabir’s voice cut through the haze like a knife.
“Seems like your brother hasn’t been as honest with you as you thought,” Kabir said with a venomous grin. “Maybe all this time, Vivaan’s been more interested in your girl than your well-being.”
“Shut up, Kabir!” Vivaan snapped, his eyes flashing with anger. “This is between me and Aarav. Stay out of it.”
But Aarav couldn’t hear them anymore. The world around him was collapsing, the betrayal too much to bear. The brother he had trusted with his life, the one person who had always been by his side, had feelings for the woman he loved. The room began to blur as the pain in his chest worsened, and suddenly, it was too much.
Aarav collapsed.
The thud echoed in the silent room, and Vivaan was immediately at his side, his doctor’s instincts kicking in. “Aarav!” he shouted, cradling his brother in his arms. “Someone call an ambulance!”
The office erupted into chaos, Kabir’s smug expression fading as the gravity of the situation sunk in. Vivaan’s hands moved quickly, checking Aarav’s pulse, his breathing, all while fighting back his own rising panic.
“Aarav, stay with me,” Vivaan whispered desperately, tears brimming in his eyes. “I’m here. I’ve got you.”
Aarav’s breathing was shallow, his face pale, and his pulse weak. The pain Vivaan had worked so hard to manage was threatening to take his brother away again. Vivaan knew that if they didn’t get to the hospital soon, Aarav’s heart might not make it this time.
The ambulance arrived minutes later, but to Vivaan, it felt like an eternity. He stayed by Aarav’s side, holding his hand tightly as the paramedics worked to stabilize him. As they wheeled Aarav into the ambulance, Vivaan’s mind was racing—filled with guilt, fear, and the overwhelming sense that he might lose his brother because of everything left unsaid.
Meera arrived at the office just as the ambulance doors closed, her face a mixture of confusion and worry. She ran toward Vivaan, her eyes wide with fear. “What happened? Is he—?”
“He’ll be fine,” Vivaan said, though his voice betrayed his uncertainty. “I won’t let anything happen to him.”
As the ambulance sped toward the hospital, Vivaan stared down at his unconscious brother. The questions about Meera and their feelings would have to wait. Right now, all that mattered was keeping Aarav alive.
But the weight of the unspoken truths between them was crushing, and Vivaan knew that even if Aarav survived this, things between them might never be the same again.
