Chapter 2: Overburn

When Sarah got up to the cells, she pulled out a knife and killed the guard who had the keys. "Sleep tight, punk," Sarah said quietly. She got the keys and opened the cells. "Thanks, kid, I thought we were dead." Said Lt. Kyle MacCarthy. "I'm LT MacCarthy. I know who you are. You're Sarah Davidson, and you got out of Camp Smert." "Let go before they know you guys are gone," Sarah said as he gave Kyle the guard's gun. "Were the rest of your team?" Sarah asked. "Dead, it's just me now," Kyle said. They both ran from the base, and Sarah had her foot on a Russian soldier's head and crushed it. "Let's get moving," Sarah said as she got the soldier's weapon and headed out of the base. Guards found her and set off the alarms. Sarah heard what was going on and took cover. Kyle did the same. "That fucker piss off the whole base!" Kyle yelled. "Hopefully, the helo can get us from this God-forsaken place!" "We just have to hold off this area until the helo comes!" Sarah said as she fired the gun. We will get out of here soon!" "I hope you're right!" Kyle said as he fired the weapon Sarah gave him. Then the helo took out the group of soldiers, and both Sarah and Kyle ran to the helo and they fired at what was left of the group of Russian soldiers. "Thanks, kid, you save my ass from that bastard Sam Burns. We found out he is planning something big, and whatever it is, it will get worse if we don't stop it. General Lucus has been setting up a plan for an attack with you and the USMC." Kyle said. "You just need to wait for the orders to go in."

Back in Texas, she was getting ready to head home when Jonathan came to her. "Davidson, we need you tomorrow for a mission down in South America. We believe that a group of rebels in Rio have been caught in drug trafficking. We need you to head down there and take care of the problem. This mission will start tomorrow. Have a good night, Davidson. " With that, Sarah headed home.

When she got home, she lay on her bed tired and wanted to shut her eyes. She drifted away to sleep.

The next day, Sarah headed down to get something to eat. Then her phone rang. She answers it. "Hello," Sarah said with her still being sleepy. "Good morning, Davidson; I have a mission for you," Jonathan said. "What is it, sir?" She asked as she poured a bowl of cereal to eat. "We have Intel saying that Russian forces have a missile base up and running in Cuba. It is the same base that happened in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Davidson, that was 56 years ago, and yet they got in running." Jonathan said. "We had the 26th handle it, but they haven't returned yet with the report." "Could they have been killed or taken prisoners?" Sarah asked. "I don't know, but I want you to find out and take them home or mark them. Also, destroy the base as well and shut it down." Jonathan asked. "You're on your own for this mission. Good luck, Davidson, Lucus out." They both hung up and then something popped into her head. "Wait, was I going to Rio today?" Sarah asked herself. She sighed. "This man needs to stick to one thing." Sarah ate, got dressed, and headed out the door.

When she got to the base, she got ready, and Jonathan came into the room just then. "I forgot to tell you were reassigned to this mission." He said. "I got Task Force Bravo to take care of the problem." "Well, at least they're not alone," Sarah said. "Assigning that mission to you was a rookie mistake. I have no problem with you handling a mission by yourself, but what would your mother think if I sent you to Rio to take care of a cartel problem by yourself." Jonathan said. "You can handle a search and destroy mission by yourself." "Well, I'm ready to go," Sarah said. "Be careful because Raul Castro is still in power after the death of his brother. He doesn't know you're coming, and we hope that this mission will not ruin the relationship between the US and Cuba. We are taking risks," Jonathan said. "Good luck." With that, Sarah headed to the helo and went off to Cuba.

When she was there, Lt. Visser landed the helicopter nicely and quietly. "Well, kid, we are here," Visser said. Thank you, Mr. Visser." Sarah said as she got her .50 Cal ready. Good luck, kid," Visser said, and he took off. Sarah headed down to the small town.
