Matteo leaned back in his chair, concern etched on his face as he listened to Nathan. "So, you're really going to step down as CEO? Just like that?"
Nathan nodded, his expression serious. "I need to focus on my role as a bodyguard. Protecting Sierra is my top priority now, and I can't do both jobs effectively."
"Do you really think you can just walk away from everything you've built?" Matteo asked, his voice a mix of admiration and disbelief.
"It's not just about the company," Nathan replied. "Sierra's been through so much, and I can't let anything happen to her. I need to be there for her, especially with Lena lurking around."
Matteo sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I get it, but it's a big responsibility to hand over the reins. Are you sure about appointing me as CEO?"
"Absolutely," Nathan said firmly. "You've been with the company long enough to know how things operate, and I trust you completely. Plus, you have the vision to take it to the next level."
Matteo smiled slightly, though his worry was still evident. "It's a lot to take on, but I won't let you down. Just promise me you'll be careful out there."
"I will," Nathan assured him. "I have to be. Sierra deserves that much, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe."
Matteo nodded, sensing the determination in Nathan's voice. "Then let's make this transition smooth. You focus on what you need to do, and I'll handle the company."
"I love your cousin bro," Nathan said, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He knew he was making the right choice, and with Matteo in charge, he could fully commit to his mission.
Matteo raised an eyebrow, a teasing grin spreading across his face. "Oh really? That's news to me! You're serious?"
Nathan chuckled, trying to play it cool. "Yeah, I guess I am. It just happened, you know? I didn't plan for it."
"Wow, you're really going for it then," Matteo said, his tone light but supportive. "Just be careful, man. Protecting her means more than just keeping her safe from threats. You've got to be there for her emotionally too."
"I know, I know," Nathan replied, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "It's just... I can't help how I feel."
Matteo clapped him on the back. "Well, just make sure she knows how you feel. Communication is key, especially with everything going on."
"About that we already confessed to each other, she also loves me too" Nathan said, a determined look in his eyes. "And I will be courting her too" Nathan did not hesitated to say.
Matteo's grin widened, clearly enjoying the moment. "Courting her, huh? That's a bold move, especially with everything happening around you two."
Nathan nodded, the seriousness of his intentions settling in. "I want her to know I'm not just here to protect her. I want to build something real. But I have to be careful; Lena's still a factor."
"Definitely," Matteo replied, his expression turning more serious. "You've got to keep her safe from both threats and emotional chaos. If Lena tries anything, you need to be on guard."
Nathan took a deep breath, the weight of his new responsibilities pressing down on him. "I'll do whatever it takes, even if it means stepping away from the CEO role for a while."
"Speaking of which," Matteo said, leaning back in his chair, "are you ready to hand over the reins? It's a big deal, bro."
"I trust you," Nathan said firmly. "You've always been there for me. I know you'll keep the company on track while I handle this."
