One year later...
Ota's side
I sighed. I was sitting on my bed cross-legged. My heart was hurting yet again. No surprise. I screwed up.
"Ota, how long are you gonna sit around and mope? Sitting here and doing nothing is just a waste. Sitting here won't bring back Dia."
I looked toward the doorway to see Kishi, Soryu, and even Eisuke. I looked away and said, "Go away."
"Look, it's your fault Ota, just accept it and move on," I heard Eisuke say.
My eyes narrowed and I looked at him and spoke, "That's a lot of big talk coming from you who started this whole thing."
Eisuke I saw practically flare up as he said, "But guess who stopped? And look who kept it up. You lost it with Dia. She is a strong willed girl. You knew that from the beginning. She never asked for much. Just your love."
I deflated. Dia. I took out my phone and on the lock screen was Dia smiling and blowing me a kiss. Dia, I still love you. I pulled up her contact and called it. It went straight to voice mail.
"Her cell phone is turned off Ota," Soryu said.
I put it away and looked to them. I got of the bed and I asked, "Where is she?"
"Don't know. But, she's with Baba. So, she's safe," Kishi said.
No. Not with Baba. He can't take her from me.
Baba's side
"Ahhh!"
I laughed and turned the wheel to the boat and Dia laughed with joy. I looked at her and she flung her hands in the air. Her life guard jacket practically swallowing her. I looked forward and later I docked the boat. I secured the boat and got out of it. I helped Dia out and then helped with her life jacket off. I threw it back into the boat.
"That was so much fun! Thank you Baba!"
I smiled and Dia and I held hands. We had started doing this awhile back. It was out of the blue. Our first month here it was hell. Every night I held her close. I still do. I didn't mind. This was going to sound like I was stalking but, I had always watched Dia. Dia I know was happy with Ota in the beginning. But I noticed he was distant a bit. I guess after he stopped calling Dia Koro he felt that he lost power. I don't want to believe that. But, Ota is different. Still- "Baba? Are you okay?"
I blinked and then looked at Dia with a smile as I said, "Yes. I'm sorry Dia. Say, let's go eat."
"Baba, are you really sure your okay? Am I-"
No pain. Dia, I won't let you feel pain, "Dia, your fine. I'm a little spaced is all. Even I have my moments."
We looked at one another and then we laughed. That night, of course we were curled up. She didn't know it but she would snuggle up to me and half lay on me. I didn't mind it. In fact, we've been sharing a bed since we got here. I picked up my phone from my night dresser. It's been off since we got here. I turned it back on. Before I could do anything. It started vibrating. It was Boss. I looked down at Dia and I had already wrapped an arm around her and I was playing with her hair before I knew it. We've fallen into a routine. I didn't want anything or anyone. When I see women all I do is a little charm and then I'm all Dia. No other girl was like her. I didn't need or want any other girl. All that matter was Dia. I answered my phone, "Hello?"
Eisuke's side
"Hello?"
"Hey Baba. For once I'm actually glad to hear you. How's Dia," I started firing off questions.
Baba softly laughed and I put him on speaker. Soryu and Kishi were in the lounge with me. Baba spoke, "I'm honored Boss. Dia is a lot better. She needed away time."
I breathed a sigh of relief. I was cold yes, but that strong-willed, kind, honest woman broke my walls down, "Where are you two at? Both of your phones were off."
"Dia's phone I confiscated and turned it off when we got here. I turned my phone off cause I wanted to focus on only her. Are location, wait, where's he at?"
Baba sounded a little cautious and stern when he said 'he' "Ota-"
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't say his name Eisuke."
Baba is pissed at Ota. Though, who could blame him "He's not at the hotel. He left an hour ago."
"Hmm. We're in the Bahamas."
"When do you think you two are coming home. It's a little lonely without you two. Kishi and Soryu are here."
"Hey Mamo, Sor. Miss me and Dia?"
"You believe what you want Baba. So, the kids okay? Is she awake," Kishi asked.
"I'm with the detective on this," Soryu said.
Baba once again lightly laughed and he spoke, "So mean Mamo and Sor. She's asleep. We had a great day. For the first few nights she had nightmares. I wanted to clobber him oh so badly. I'm thinking about-never mind. Anyway, I'm going to see if she wants to come back to Japan in the morning."
That made me so happy. But, what's going through his mind? What's Ota going to do once she comes back home. And will Dia choose one of us? I wouldn't blame her if she did.
"Boss, gotta go. I think Dia is having a nightmare."
Before another word could be said, Baba hung up. I looked at Kishi and Soryu. Soryu said, "It's going to be a boat ride once Dia comes back."
Suddenly the penthouse door opened and we all looked to see Ota. He was soaked and looked pale as a ghost and so tired as he breathed, "Dia."
Ota went down to the ground.
