"M-Mommy? D-Daddy?" Louis and I's four year old daughter cried as she walked into our room at three a.m.. Louis and I both sat up and I opened my arms for her to come join us.
She climbed up and cuddled into my chest while Louis pulled me into his.
"What's wrong, babe?" he asked her softly and I could hear her little whimpers as she cried into my shirt.
"I-I had a scary dream." she said softly and I hugged her tighter.
"Your alright. We are right here." Louis whispered in her ear and she pulled away from us to sit huddled up in between us.
"Where's Mr. Fluffy?" I asked her, since it was her favorite stuffed animal and always made her feel better.
"The older kids at school keep telling me that he's not real and he is for babies." she squeaked with tears in her eyes. I looked up and met eyes with Louis who looked just as upset as I felt.
"Of course he's real, sweetie." I said softly as I moved her bangs out of her eyes, making her beautiful blue irises more visible.
"No he isn't!" she cried and some tears slipped from her eyes.
"Well, he doesn't know that." Louis smiled and hopped out of the bed, coming back in with the stuffed elephant.
Her eyes became bright again and she hugged it with all of her might. She laid back on the pillow and fell asleep right away.
I watched as Louis did the same and pulled both of us close to him.
"I love you, Sandy." he whispered and kissed our daughters forehead before giving me a sweet kiss on the lips.
