Travis' POV
As I make my way to school, I am stopped in the hallway by the football coach. "Hey Travis, can I see you in my office as soon as first period is done?""Oh, um yeah of course coach," I say as he nod and walks away. The NFL's colleagues have been here during the last game of the season to watch the team. I'm not saying I think it is, but I have a feeling it has to do with that. I make my way to Math class and by surprise, I'm the first one there. Taylor is usually the first one here so I'm not sure why she's not here yet. People slowly start arriving and by the time there's only 5 minutes left till class starts, that's when Taylor finally gets here. She's wearing the same thing she always wears but this time, her hair, her hair is curly. I haven't seen her with her hair natural since we stopped talking to each other and God, I forgot how beautiful she looks with it. That thought quickly vanishes when I make eye contact with her and I can see the lies and betrayal in her eyes. I turn my back to the front and pay attention to the teacher and forgot about Taylor. After class ended, I made my way to the coaches office with nerves in my stomach. When I approached the office, the first thing I saw was a paper that looked like a contract, my parents, and two people in suits. "Are you Travis Kelce?" the man in the dark blue suit said.
"Uh yeah. What is this about?"
"Well, we were at the football game looking for players that had potential, and you. You had just it. We would like to sign you to an NFL contract for the Chiefs but if you want to take this, you can't tell anybody until you officially get drafted." I was stunned. I knew I was a good player and everyone told me I would make it big, but I still wasn't expecting it. We talked for a few more minutes before I signed the papers and took pictures. After that, I went to my second period with a smile on my face that probably made me look stupid. The day is oddly slow today and it has felt like days when lunch rolled around. I grab a lunch tray and sit down with my friends with a grin joining in on their conversation. "Hey Trav, I'll pay you 100 bucks to go up to that wannabe singer and act nice to her," one of my friend snarled.
"You know I can never pass up money," I chuckled with a grin making my way to Taylor. "Oh, hey Taylor." I watched as she turned around and groaned.
"What do you want Travis?"
I couldn't help the sour expression that took over my face. "Woah, can I not say hello to an old friend?" I grinned as I watched anger take over her face.
"Please leave me alone, I can't deal with your bullshit today," she replied. I smirk in satisfaction that I made her walk away but for some reason, I follow her. She walked in the bathroom and goddamn, how long does she take in there? It felt like hours until she finally came out and eyed me up and down. "Oh for Gods sake Travis, what do you want?"
I decided to push my luck with her to see how long it would take her to break. "Don't act like you aren't happy to see me." Was it a good idea? No, probably not. Did it feel satisfying doing it? Yes, very much.
"No, I'm not happy to see you Travis. You betrayed me by believing that dirty little liar and chose your 'girlfriend' at the time who just ended up cheating on you with your friend and blaming you for it."
I don't know what it was, but something in me snapped. Hearing her repeat what had happened with Karlie had been the last straw for me. "Fuck you Taylor, fuck you. Are you sure that the little food and protein you're getting isn't messing up with your damn mind? If you want to make a point, then maybe think about getting more meat on your bones because if you keep this up, you're not going to make it to 20." After that, anger filled my eyes before I stormed out of the hallway and back to the cafeteria. I had never let any of Taylor's words get under my skin before, but that had done it for me. "Hey Trav, you ok?" I suddenly heard my friend, Patrick, say to me. "Yeah, just saw something unsettling out there." Pat nodded before turning his attention back to our friend group and went back to eating. The day started going by more slower than it had already been going before it was time to go home. Traffic was bad but when I got back to my house, I was met with my Jason and my parents with a cake that said 'congratulations'. Right then and there, all of the thoughts about the comments Taylor made went out of my mind. After the whole mini celebration my family through for me, they both went out to drive Jason back to college so I was left alone with my own thoughts again. My thoughts drift back to Taylor. I can feel guilt eating me alive as I think about it. Did I go too far? No, no I didn't she's the who went too far. Bringing up my issues with Karlie and what had happened to me. Taylor had wanted to ruin my relationship with her and when I got rid of her, Karlie has had enough. It's her fault, not mine. The guilt quickly leaves my body and gets replaced with anger. I pick up my phone and call Pat. We talk for a few minutes before agreeing on going to the basketball court so I can get my mind off of today's issues. Of course the day where my life changes has to get ruined once again by the girl who betrayed me. I haven't realized to amount of time that had past until Patrick told me it was his curfew which was usually at 11. We say goodbye before I make my way back home. I get a text from my parents saying there was so much traffic getting there so they would have to stay in a hotel for the night and will come back tomorrow. I put my keys down before showering and getting some popcorn ready so I can watch a movie. I get halfway through Beetlejuice before I start getting ready for bed. I get under my covers and just like that, I'm pulled into a deep sleep after dealing with all the stress of today.
