The Man Who Never Stopped
"With the summer season approaching, I'm planning to take some time off and visit the island resort myself. A little personal R&R. So, I'm putting a temporary hold on all major decisions for the next month."
Tumigil ang pag-click ng ballpen ni Nale. A pause?
"Mr. Manansala, with all due respect, the rebranding campaign is at a critical phase. If we pause now, we risk losing momentum with your investors, and the timing—"
"Nale, relax. The resort isn't going anywhere. We can afford a little breathing room. You've done excellent work so far, but even the best of us need a break sometimes."
He didn't take breaks.
He sighed first and instead said, "We'll prepare for the next phase once you're back. I'll keep the team on standby for any urgent developments."
His eyes darted to his whiteboard. It was crowded with upcoming deadlines and meetings.
Time off wasn't in his vocabulary. He prided himself on being available—on never slowing down. It's what made him the top consultant at the firm. It's what kept him respected, admired, successful. Without work, who was he?
Just then, the intercom buzzed. Bumuntong-hininga na lamang siya saka sinagot iyon.
"Nale, can you step into my office for a minute?" His boss, Leonard, had that casual tone.
"On my way," Nale responded.
Leonard's office was a testament to his corporate success—minimalist, expensive, and designed to impress. It had a view that most would kill for.
"I just spoke with Mr. Arthur. Seems like he's serious about taking some time off, huh?"
