Anirudh's POV
I woke up with a jerk, feeling the sunlight fall on my face. I blinked rapidly and groggily sat up. Taking out my phone from the bedside table, I saw the time.
Fvck!
I am so late...I will be late on my first day to my institution.
I sprinted downstairs to the washroom to freshen up and bath. Baba was getting ready for office already. Shit, Anirudh, this is what you get for watching reels till late night.
Giving baba a sheepish smile, I quickly went into bathroom.
With every moment passing, I was feeling energized and rejuvenated. Finally, today's the day I will begin my first journey to my dream. Of being a doctor. Of being the first doctor of my bloodline. Uff, I got goosebumps just by visualizing my future.
Hi, I am Anirudh Ghoshal, a 17 year old boy, with high aims. Keyword: Aims, not dreams. Dreams are what we see while sleeping. Aims are what that keep us awake from sleep.
Well, I also stay awake watching reels, but I am going to ignore that for now. Hehe.~
My father is a police sub-inspector, and of all the things I inherited from him, the best thing was my ability to wake up early no matter how late I sleep. Today was an exception, though. But I will let it slide. My dear mother, like always, has kept my food ready, and...oh, shit.
3 missed calls, from Didi. You are gone today, Anirudh. My elder sister, ten years older to me, is practically my Godmother, even if she is married and stays miles away from me. She must have called me to check on how I was going about my first day at the institute.
I picked up her call, while putting on my shirt and trousers.
"Hello, good morning, Didi."
"To hell with your 'Good morning'! You are late again, idiot! Watching phones till 3 in the morning, hmm??" she scolded me from the other side.
"Fine, fine, sorryyyy." I chuckled, combing my hair, which was of no use. It always gets messy.
"Shut up, and go cautiously. It is a long distance there, and I know you are oh-so-big-boy, but be careful while crossing the roads, okay? And don't be reckless or run around, okay?"
"Yes, yes, meri maa, I will listen to all of your words. Shall I hang up, now?" I hid back my laughter at her concern. She is always so overthinking about me. She has her own son of four years age, yet she treats me the same way as if I was her baby too. Well, that was why she was my favorite woman in the world.
My mother had given me birth late, and she used to be sick after my birth. So, my didi was the one who took care of me the most. Suffice to say, I was the most loved baby boy of my family, and they loved me as much as they taught me about responsibilities. I loved my family, but my didi the most.
I came downstairs again, had my food, bade goodbye to maa, and left. I was already late, so I took metro while going. I can't let maa know about it, she will panic knowing I had gone via metro for the first time.
Thankfully, I got safely in the metro, and the journey was very comfortable. I reached the institute barely on time before the classes would start.
I promised one of my friends here that I would meet him when I came, but well, I suppose that would have to wait for now, as the classes already began.
The first class was of Chemistry, and well, the teacher was good, the materials were a higher version of what we studied in 10th classes, but overall, I grasped the topics. After all, I did homework on what will be taught previous night only. It was all good.
