Bridal music played out as I stood behind the doors. Each breath escaping my lips was a clear souvenir to my nervousness. Color flamed my cheeks like two pink roses. The wooden oak doors gently revealed the blushing bride. A pathway opened for me as everyone stared at the brown haired beauty in white.

Cherry blossoms from the trees in the backyard dropped pink petals like the first snowfall. My dark brown eyes found Declan as he stared at me, awestruck. One foot in front of the other, I began to walk down the aisle. Step together step together. It felt like forever but I finally made it across never taking my eyes off of him. My hand was gently placed into Declan's almost as if fate decreed it as destiny. Was I nervous? Yes, beyond your imagination but I played it cool behind the veil. Alpha John (my future father in law) read from the book but I could not hear anything as I looked into Declan's eyes.

Finally I was snapped out of my stupor when he asked for our vows. I managed to say I do as my eyes were full of happy tears. Declan said his I do and took my hands in his. "I now pronounce you husband and wife."

"Finally," Declan mumbled. Our lips were just about to meet...

" Get up Get up! Lilly get up!!!" My eyes snapped and the bridal music, Declan, and the wedding disappeared. Immediately the harsh morning light blinded me momentarily before I turned to the hysterical voice that woke me from my slumber. "Gah! Ang what d'you want?" I exclaimed as my favorite blonde was roughly shaking me awake.

" Lil they canceled the wedding."

That got my attention. I snapped up and winced as the sudden movement formed a creak in my neck. Once it was gone I looked at Angela again "They canceled what?!"

"Your wedding. We have an emergency pack meeting c'mon!" My arm was dragged out of bed with the rest of me following. I quickly managed to grab a night robe and slip my feet in some flip flops as she dragged me outside.

Drowsy people that were dressed similar to me stood in the back yard around the large stage that Declan and I were supposed to get married on later today. Alpha John addressed the crowd. Declan looked like he was really sleep deprived. I tried to catch his gaze but he refused to meet it. What was going on?

I suddenly felt self-conscious, was he not looking at me because of my horrible bed head? My fingers snapped up to my bushy hair and raked their way through, trying to tame the mess.

"Thank you for coming," said the alpha "I'm sorry to have called you at such short notice but this matter had to be addressed immediately."

I saw everyone's undivided attention on Alpha John. The sky was starting to brighten up and I no longer felt tired. My mother and Aiden were on the stage looking out into the crowd. Aiden caught my gaze. An emotion flicked through his eyes but it left so fast that I thought I was just imagining things.

I was snapped out of my thoughts as the alpha started to speak again " I know we all expected to have a wedding today and the alpha rights passed down from father to son. Unfortunately Declan and I have decided to cancel the ceremony."

A chorus of gasps and muttering exploded from the crowd but they fell silent as Alpha John continued. I had to admire the undivided attention he got from these people " I know many of you are confused but I have a reasonable explanation. My son has just turned nineteen years old. Now traditionally he would've been the alpha by now but he spent a year trying to find his mate. Thankfully he has found her but I cannot ignore the year of time he missed looking for her nor can I ignore the fact that his mate is not out of high school. "
