"Girl don't shit me." My mom said with her arms crossed as she watched me fill up half of the shopping cart with H.D Carlton's books.
"Please mom, my birthday is like just.. 11 months away." I said a bit awkwardly as I gave her a big smile and then moved the cart forward.
I could literally feel my mom rolling her eyes at me from behind but it didn't bother me since I got what I wanted.
I happily approached the counter nonchalantly, my mind too focused on how I'd invite Evan on text. But I got pushed out of my distracting thoughts when we heard people shouting as we got closer to the counter.
"I told you this woman is stealing baby products and you're telling me 'let her' ?!" The woman probably in her 40s with short blonde hair retorted.
This screams Karen fight.
There was huge crowd gathered around the cashier and the Karen to see the drama unfold and I got pretty disappointed when I saw my mom putting all the stuff back in place from our cart and dragged me outside.
"Why'd you do that?" I asked as I reluctantly got in the passenger's seat.
"That would take alot of time, and time doesn't fall from the sky." She retorted and started the car engine.
I rolled my eyes and leaned back in the car seat, staring out the window as she drove.
She rang the doorbell as I waited beside her, not very thrilled to hear the crowd inside our house.
The door flew open, revealing my aunt Violet from dad's side of the family and more familiar faces behind her and she looked at my mom like she wanted to strangle her. "Hey Mily, good to see you." She said with a fake smile plastered across her face.
"Good to see you too." My mom replied and we walked in after aunt Violet stepped aside.
I looked around, seeing faces I didn't want to see, and then saw my room's door closed. I expected a random baby sleeping on my bed, but when I opened the door slowly, trying not to make it creak, I saw a tall guy sitting on my bed on his phone.
He had fluffy black hair that screamed for me to run my hands through, and dark gray eyes.
He looked up at me as soon as I stepped in, and stood up, "Sorry, there was no other room for me to sit." He said in a smooth voice that almost made me roll my eyes.
I'm simping.
"That's okay, you can sit here. I can relate, I don't like crowds either." I replied with an awkward smile, fidgeting with my fingers.
"I know right, the elders start ogling me and pinching my cheeks whenever they see me." He said with a hint of annoyance and amusement in his voice as he sat back down on the edge of my bed.
I chuckled softly, a bit relieved that he isn't a cold one who avoids people like I thought.
"So, whose son?" I asked as I took off my earrings.
"Uh, Kelly Matthews." He said, as if he already knew that she is a damn pain in the ass for me.
He obviously does.
"I'm the Aria." I muttered, knowing he already knew my name.
"Yeah I've heard about you. I'm Zeke."
My father's parents, who are my paternal grandparents, love their daughter more than anything while she just keeps asking for money from them. Doesn't spare their food money either.
They all don't treat my father as their son, instead like a slave who's only there to pay for their needs and hate my mother.
But my dad has a heart of gold, and he still does everything for them. I hope don't have his naiveness as a gene.
So they argue all day, everyday, and my grandmother goes to her relatives houses to vent to them and obviously makes stuff up to defend herself. She mostly goes to aunt Kelly who's an expert at comforting and making people feel like they're a slay queen no matter what they did.
And now this is my first time meeting her son, and I hope he doesn't believe whatever bullshit my grandmother said about me and my parents.
"Zeke.." I echoed as I wiped my light makeup off. "When did you get here?"
"An hour ago." He replied nonchalantly, his gaze fixated on his phone screen.
I'm surprised I'm speaking to him without stuttering or blushing, I mean maybe I am blushing, but I'm internally praying that he doesn't notice.
I decided not to speak to him too much since he's from dad's side of the family.
Then I sat beside him, keeping a respectable distance as I went on my phone as well.
He moved his head a bit, and I couldn't help but notice his second button undone with sexy collarbones exposed.
I never thought collarbones could be sexy, but here we are.
And damn, I've never had experience of randomly simping for a guy I just met so much in my 18 years on earth.
It was charged silence, and neither of us wanted to break it.
I was more worried of what he thinks about me and what my bloody grandmother said about me and my parents at his house.
