Lily's POV
I woke up the next morning wrapped in Sarah's arms. I look up and see that she's still sleeping so I take this time to truly study her face. The way that her eyebrows are set on her face and her distinguished cheekbones. The slight curl of her eyelashes and the dip in her lips.
She suddenly sucks in a deep breath of air and her eyelids flutter open. "Good morning." Sarah says with a smile."Morning Sarah." I respond. "So what do uh you want to do today?" She asks me. "Well it's Friday so I'm off until Monday. I don't really know. I mean what do you want to do? You've just been so generous to me and I'm sure I'd be up for whatever you have planned." I tell her.
"Okay well how about we go get some breakfast because I'm starving." She says with a slight laugh. "Yeah sounds good to me."
We both roll out of bed and go to our respective bathrooms to take showers. Once I get out, I dry myself off and but on a black and white printed skirt with a black fringe top and black heels. I blow dry my hair and just leave it wavy. I walk out of my room and head for the living area. I sit on the couch and wait for Sarah to finish.
She finally walks out in a short-sleeved striped t-shirt and leggings. "Hey you ready to go?" "Yep." I stand up and walk towards the door while Sarah grabs her keys. We walk out to her car and hop in. She backs out of the driveway and turns out of the neighborhood. "So I was thinking that we could go to little diner down the road. It's usually not that busy but it's super good." "Fine with me." I reply with a smile. I stare out the window for the rest of the ride but sometimes I would glance over at Sarah and we would make eye contact. I would quickly look away so it didn't look like I was staring.
She pulled into the parking lot and turned the car off. We both got out and I opened the door to the building for Sarah. "Thank you." She said and I could see her cheeks turn pinkish.
"Hello welcome to Red's Diner is it just the two of you?" "Yes." Sarah answered. "Okay booth or a table?" "Booth please." Sarah replies. "Okay right this way." The hostess leads us to our table and hands us our menus. "Your server will be right with you." She says as she walks away.I look at the menu and figure out what I want. Soon the waiter comes over,"Hi I'm Justin and I'll be your server today. What can I start you ladies off to drink with?" he asks. "Coffee!" Sarah and I say at the same time. We look at each other and blush. "Okay two coffees it is. Do you know what you'd like to eat?" "Can I have two chocolate chip waffles with a side of bacon." I ask. "And I'll have the same." Sarah says. He takes our menus and goes to place our order.
"Wow I didn't know we had so much in common." Sarah says with a grin. "There's a lot you don't know." I say back. "Well then tell me some things." She says. "Like what?" "Where are you from, what do you like to do, those sorts of things." "Well I've lived this town all my life. I like to act but I work at the music store to pay the bills. Speaking of bills, if I'm going to live with you at least let me pay rent." I tell Sarah. "No! You don't have to do that. I'm the one that invited you." She's responds quickly.
Justin comes back with our food before I could protest. "Here you go ladies. Enjoy."
We eat our breakfast and talk about our lives. Once we're finished I pay the bill (much to Sarah's discontent) and we go back to her place."Hey so it's $5 movie night at the theater, do you want to go watch a movie with me?" She asks me after we get home. "Yeah sure let me grab my jacket and freshen up and I'll be ready."
15 minutes later we're both ready and we head out. It takes us about 30 minutes to get there. "What type of movie do you want to see?" Sarah asks me.
"Well I like scary movies. Would it be okay if we saw one?" I question. "Um yeah sure okay. I'll get us tickets, you go get us popcorn." "Okay."
I leave Sarah and walk in to the building. I go up to the counter and pay for a large popcorn and two drinks. Sarah walks in with two tickets in her hand. She takes one of the drinks and hands me my ticket.
Together we walk down the hall to the screen that was playing our movie. She wants to sit at the very top so we climb the steps and sit in the middle. We talk a little before the previews come on and then we go silent.
A fourth of the way into the movie, Sarah is already jumping out of her seat. "Are you okay?" I ask her. "Yeah. It's just I uh don't like scary movies." She says shyly. "Why didn't you say anything?" "Because I wanted to make you happy." She whispers. My heart flutters a little bit.
"Here give me your hand." I say reaching out for her hand. She looks at me and then my hand gesture and places her hand in mine. It felt so amazing to hold her hand and I was great full for the darkness of the theater or else she would've seen me blush.
For the rest of the movie, Sarah seemed to be a little more calm. We walked out and threw our trash away and I realized we were still holding hands. I wasn't going to say anything but I think Sarah realized it too and she pulled her hand away blushing.
"Well thanks for making me feel calm. I don't think I would've been able to make it through the entire movie. That was some scary shit." She says with a laugh. I chuckle at her.
"That was such a great date." I say to myself. Wait was that a date? No it couldn't have been could it? I mean I'm straight. I think. God Sarah's making me question myself. Did I want that to be a date?
