Liliana
I perch on the window of the castle wondering of the world what lies beyond the vast spanning blue waters.
It's raging today. The sea and the sky above. Dark clouds hover over the island portraying the storm is near, closer. Just like the storm brewing inside my mind. I taste the saltiness of the tears trickling down my cheeks not bothering to wipe them away.
Harsh waves crash on the rocks below. I dare not stand for I am scared of looking down.
There's a tap on the door. I turn to see the person standing. A rush of chill wind gushes inside through the window and he hugs himself in the middle.
As soon as I see him I gallop in his arms. My safe place.
My hero. His arms open as if on autopilot and I crash into the warm embrace.
"Have you been crying?" He murmurs in my hair.
I shake my head listening to his calm and steady heartbeats even though there's apparent evidence of saltiness on my cheeks.
"You know I'll always protect you." He murmurs his arms snaking my waist as he embraces me in a tight hug.
I lift my head from his chest so I could see his face.
Scarred and jagged."You don't have to save me." My voice breaks. Breaking for him.
He got punished again because of me.
"It is worth it." He smiles.
His forest green eyes twinkled as if he was proud of saving me.I get lost in those orbs revealing freedom. But then, the colour changes to dark and ominous. His smile fades replaced with an angry scowl. He pushes me from his embrace and I land on the ground. I compose myself but he turns not sparing me a glance and leaves.
No.
No.
Wait.
"Wait, don't go," I croak, my voice barely a whisper.
He doesn't stop.
His footfalls sound distant.
With each step he takes it drifts us apart. I attempt to get up but a heavy weight is pinning me down unable to stand.
I yell into the void but my voice can't reach him.
And then he disappears.
No.
Alejandro.
My eyes flew open startlingly.
I struggle gasping for air. Immediately I close my eyes with the intrusion of the bright light. I groan when the weight on my chest shifts and I feel the soft whiskers against my skin.
Silverbell.
I feel pain all over even though I know there are no physical injuries.
How could he?
After all these years I've mourned his death. How could he?The deepest part of me whispers there must be a reason yet practical me is dreadful.
Swallowing the silent cries I focus on the present. Then I hear him.
My new found solace.
The raw fear in his voice. The vulnerability. The jeopardy of the situation settles in my core."Why the fuck is she not awake yet?" He yells followed by the noise of something clattering on the ground. Goosebumps erupt on my body when reality crashes in.
A faint voice follows but I can't make it. My eyes travel across the room. The door to my room is open narrowly.
Silverbell moves from my chest nuzzling my neck.
