Through miles of dark trees and greens moves a creature damned from birth, unbothered by the life around it, a horrifyingly huge body black as tar, fur flowing looking as if it's made from smoke, head of dirty ivory bone large and heavy with hollow haunted eyes that could terrify the bravest of man, a beast written from nightterrors
The ground echoing loud cracks with every step, the moss and roots bowing under foot the trees shifting creaking as they move towards it's body, bloodied muzzle lowering to the ground sniffing, smelling everything around it puffs of steam leaving it with each breath, the smell of the humid air and damp moss filling it's senses both expected, taking another deep breath a newer smell hit it while fainter it was still there this smell caught the beasts attention as it was a new smell, the smell of sweet surgary honey, a small hint of mint, the rancid smell of the liquid humans put in their loud machines... another smell soon joined the addicting scent...it smelt like water
drop
drop
drop
The beast watches as water droplets hit the bone of it's face, slowly running down, clear mixing with red dripping to the floor, tilting it's head up it's hit with more drops of rain falling through the canape of leaves, grey shadowing the new rays moonlight, the beast didn't realise the sun had fallen, it's time stolen from a scent, lifting it's head, now standing tall it's left with a decision, go to it's den or follow the mouth watering smell, the decision seemed clear the beast had to know, is it prey or something else
As it moved the smell got stronger more prominent, the feeling of the rainfall hitting it's body forgotten in the back of it's mind, it's movements becoming more cautious as it gets closer to civilisation, it slows as it nears the tree line, the only thing keeping the predator from prey coming to a sudden stop as the smell now overwhelming hits it in the face, inching forward it's head peaks out from the dark cover of the trees, it tilts it's head as it notices the human den a head of it, the smell seemingly belonging to it's inhabiter, a low grumble left the beast, it needed the scent, it comes back into the curtain of darkness that the trees provide, it's big body shakes, the ground moving ever so slightly as it's claws slam down at the movement, the blanket of water that once covered it now covers the ground, it moves forward running it's body against the trees it's antlers scraping and chipping into the wood as it does, marking it's sent
Once it was satisfied it moved deeper into the woods going to it's den to get want it needed, it reaches a area where the trees are denser and the air is clearer, there laid a large dent in the ground, large enough for it's body to comfortably fit without struggle, withing the dent laid all different bones from all different creatures, leaning down it uses it's muzzle to rifle through the pile trying to find the perfect skull to gift the sweet smell, finding a raven skull it let out a low grumble, being careful it gently picked it up in it's mouth and started it's way back to the humans den
It's steps hesitant and cautious and it made it's way towards the smells den, breathing in it notices the smell strongest in the higher level of the den, using the den to lean on it stood upright on it's hignde legs it's head just able to reach the hole in the den, leaning forward to lay the skull in the hole it's muzzle hit a barrier, it stopped moving for a second before trying again, letting out a frustrated huff it's breath steaming up the barrier, lowering it's head slightly it's met with a sliver of warm air and the addicting smell, pushing towards the feeling it slowly moved the barrier, the sound of a loud bang rang out from the other side of the den and the sound of a human talking to itself, dropping the skull in the hole the beast stalked back towards the woods, once in the cover of darkness it watched the hole from afar
Soon a small human appeared in the hole of the den, that was it the human was the smell, it watched as it moved around before noticing it's gift, a small pur like happy grumble escaped it as it watched as the smell picked up the skull examining it, the smell moved the barrier and half hung out of the hole looking around before closing the barrier again
The smell liked it's present
