The first time Tsukishima saw Kuroo was in May 2012, during his first year of high school. He thought the boy had some ridiculously messy hair. Thick, raven hair seemingly pointing at every direction, that it reminded him of a chicken. It was very eye-catching to say the least, and it was exactly why Tsukishima kept glancing at his direction every chance he could. He hoped he was being discreet enough about it, and it seemed that no one really noticed the way his eyes kept being drawn towards the rooster-head boy. Tsukishima would never say it out loud, but his messy hair, combined with hazel eyes that seemed to be brimming with curiosity and confidence, along with his light smirk that was plastered on his face as he stood facing his own captain, Daichi, made the raven-haired boy look all the more attractive. He was quite pleasing to the eye, and Tsukishima found himself struggling to keep his eyes off of said raven-haired boy.

Tsukishima clicked his tongue in annoyance as he thought that this was quite troublesome, that he could not afford getting distracted by the enemy’s attractive captain right before the match even began. It took all his willpower to stop himself glancing at the raven hair that he just now learned his name of, Kuroo Tetsurou. He also learned that apparently Kuroo was a 3rd year, and a captain at that.

Tsukishima forced himself to focus on the match, which he eventually managed to do naturally as the ball annoyingly kept going past his blocks and Karasuno’s score fell behind against Nekoma. That said, as much as he focused himself to the current match, he couldn’t help to mentally take note of all the things Kuroo did during the match. As if he wasn’t already anoyingly attractive enough to Tsukishima, what with his eye-catching physical appearance and him being a captain, of course Kuroo just had to play the same position as him and certainly was way more skilled than himself. Of course he knew to dig and spiked well. Of fucking course he just had to have the best serve, and even the nastiest jump serve among his team, Nekoma. Stupid, good-looking boy and stupid volleyball.

Practice soon came to an end, and after a few words from both coach Ukai and coach Nekomata, both teams began to clean the gym. He sighed as he was undoing the net and found himself following Kuroo’s every movement through the corner of his eyes. He was conscious enough not to let his eyes wander towards the raven-haired boy lest he got caught staring by the boy himself. But he also couldn’t help the way he kept wondering where the boy would go or what he was up to. He atleast understood that it wasn’t just a simple attraction like how he would find random people on the street beautiful (you know, like any other normal person would). But he also wasn’t foolish enough to believe that he might fall in love at first sight. A somewhat complicated attraction, sure. But only because the boy had a menacingly stunning physical appearance, and a cool demeanor on top of that.

All that was, of course, until Kuroo opened his mouth and said something that irritated him as he stared at how annoyingly childish Hinata and Nekoma’s number 7 (who he couldn’t bother to remember his name of since Nekoma’s number 1 got all his attention) were acting with each other.
