I look around my room, seeing nothing but my desk, bed, lamp, and laptop. Yeah, my room isn't what people would usually expect for a girl. I'm not into the girly stuff females are nto nowadays. I just like it plain and simple.
Sighing, I close my eyes and lean back in my desk chair. The sightings of the mysterious shadow I've seen since childhood has been happening a lot more lately. It makes me anxious and paranoid all the time.
Like right now.
My eyes snap open and I take a quick glance around my room for good measure. But my heart stops and my breath hitches when I spot the familiar shadow lurking in the far corner of my room. This time, dark blood red glowing eyes stare straight back at me. As if they looking right into my soul.
I'm paralyzed. I can't move. All I can do is watch as the shadow moves across the walls as if it were taunting me. It looked strangely like a figure this time too. Not the usual dark mist-like form.
It was getting closer and closer, and I felt so helpless, so vulnerable. It reached out to me, its fingers long and slim. Just before it could touch me, there was a knock on my room door. The figure quickly disappears, leaving no trace of existence behind.
"Y/N? You in there?" Calls my mother, her voice sounding slightly worried. My body was finally able to move, my voice returning as I take deep breaths to calm down and forget about what had just happened.
"Uh... yeah," I clear my throat, voice slightly raspy, "I'm in here, mom!"
There was a second of silence before mother replies with, "I just came here to let you know dinner is ready, so freshen up, sweetie!"
I sigh in relief, barely realizing the hunger in my stomach. "Okay thanks, mom! I'll be there in a minute!" I call back, standing from my desk chair with a slight sway. "Alright!" And with that, I heard my mother's footsteps walking down the hall, signaling that she had left.
I glance around again and shake my head, trying to get rid of the memory of those glowing red eyes... Running a hand through my hair, I head into my bathroom to freshen up and get ready for dinner.
