War of Hearts

Foreword

This is a story that is loosely based on the events and characters of the remastered Modern Warfare games, with some small callbacks to other pieces of the game's history and lore. The protagonist, Sabrina "Hex" Murphy, is not a part of the games. This is not canon, we're here for a good time (and a long time).

The timeline of this story takes place throughout MW1-3, with details from those missions in-game, however some of them have been shuffled around chronologically and with who was on the missions to match the flow of this story.

I did my best to research to accurately represent and honor the vital role squad/combat medics play in the army, but I am not an active military member or veteran, so please be patient with any discrepancies for the sake of this work of fiction.

Please note that there are several fictional organizations and places that came from the CoD games that are mentioned here, though some real places are mentioned as well. I did my best to dance around country names when speaking about these fictitious groups to be mindful of any potential insensitivity.

This story also touches on handling trauma, sometimes poorly. All Trigger Warnings are listed below, but will not be listed in each individual chapter to avoid spoilers. Reader discretion is advised.

Some chapters have a lot more action than romance, I wanted to authentically let time and impactful events pass with these characters to help make their bonds feel genuine. Prepare for a good some thrills, chills, angst, slow burns, and a healthy amount of fluff. Maybe even some enemies to lovers... Several chapters will have music suggestions to enhance your reading experience. Enjoy!
