__I was making three cups of tea in the morning when choti madam came inside the kitchen. "Good morning!" She greeted me. Turning around, I smiled and greeted her back. "So, what are you doing?" She asked me. She was on a distance from me so she couldn't see what I was making.
I smiled and turned around, showing her the three cups of chai I prepared. She smiled widely at that, and asked me if she could take a cup. I nodded and she carefully sipped the chai, and the next moment a sweet sigh escaped her mouth.
(Chai-tea)"Yes! This is everything I need in a cold morning." She said and a chuckle escaped my mouth. She was just too cute for her own good.
"Will you enjoy it here or with madam?" I asked her, and pointed at the bedroom. Her eyes lit up at that and she replied with enthusiasm "ofcourse with dadi! Come on." I smiled and nodded.
We went inside the bedroom.
"Here, dadi." She passed the cup to madam and sat besides her, then, she asked me to take a seat too.
"No it's fine, aap log batein kariye, main bahar chala jaata hu." I said, not wanting to disturb their privacy.
(You guys talk, I will go out.)"Why? Come and sit with us." Madam interjected and choti madam smiled at me. I deliberated for a few seconds before sighing and sitting on the chair near the bed. "I though you guys must be wanting some privacy." I said in a silent tone, sipping on my tea.
The older lady smiled knowingly at me and the younger one answered my query, "it's a rule of ours that we don't talk dense topics over chai. Call it our shared love for the beverage or just a silly tradition, but this time is reserved only for light hearted conversations." She explained and a small smile caved on my face.
"This is so adorable and thoughtful." I said, unable to control my smile. "Haina! Mere ideas humesha khaas hi hote hai." Madam sassed dramatically making the both of us laugh out loud.
(I know right! My ideas are always special.)Anyone with eyes could tell how much more happier has she been since the arrival of Medha madam. It's like she has started living again. The void of her eyes has lessened to a significant level and she has started to express herself more. It was refreshing and nice to see.
"Absolutely dadi. No wonder your idea of planting that big tree in the small kitchen side garden resulted in us needing to shut the whole garden permanently. So amazing, as always." Medha mam said over sweetly making me almost choke on the tea. Both the ladies looked at me with concern, "are you okay beta? Here, have some water." Madam passed me a water bottle and I sipped some water before telling them I was done.
(Beta-child)"No...I am fine. Don't worry. But seriously, this happened?" I asked choti madam who was having a hard time controlling her laughter. Her eyes were fixed on madam who was glaring at me. I gave away one of my most innocent, sweet, and cherry smiles so that she heaved a sigh and shook her head. Grinning, I turned to choti madam for some gossips.
"She did. It was a wild bush actually, which she mistook as mango tree and planted in the kitchen side garden. The bushes started expanding drastically that we had to enclose the space forever. It happened around five years ago and the space is still closed." She started laughing while speaking so, making me laugh a little too.
While madam was glaring at us both.
"Let me tell you what she did last year, Vansh beta. She came back on vacation and thought it was funny to take a goat home. So she bought a goat home and kept her in the basement. One night I woke up by her meh sound and that's when I found out about it. The most hilarious thing was the owner's reaction when we returned the small animal back to him." As madam's words came to an end, I couldn't stop my laughter.
W
ho knew someone like Medha madam can do something like this??
"C...choti madam? You must be kidding me! This..." I was laughing hysterically, so was madam. While the younger lady was busy throwing glares at our ways. I think it took us around a few minutes until we stopped laughing completely, and focused back on our chai.
"Ho gaya ya aur kuch bacha hai? Nahi aur hasna ho toh has lo abhi hi." She said, looking at madam sharply who was in her own happy bubble. Then she glared at me and I put my hands up in the air in mock surrender.
(Are you guys done or something is left? If you want to laugh more, just do it now.)"In my defence, I am not immune to adorable things. When I see them, I just want to take them home." She said defensively making both madam and I chuckle again.
"Of course, the so called adorable thing was a little meh-meh doing goat. Good going shona!" Madam said and patted her shoulder, making her groan. I laughed again. This was probably the most I've laughed this month at once, and I was loving every second of this tea time conversation.
"You guys are insufferable. I am going from here." She said and got up, taking the tray and all of ours now empty cups in that to keep it back in the kitchen. I looked at madam with a chuckle, she responded back with her own until she left the room.
My eyes widen.
I am the one who is supposed to work. Shit!
I quickly stopped laughing and walked towards the kitchen, she was about to enter inside when I stopped her.
"This is my work choti madam. Why did you bring it here? I was about to." I said taking the tray from her hands. She was about to say something but I cut her with my previous words.
She kept staring at me for a few seconds.
Gosh, these white and pink silk pyjama set looked adorable on her! Am I also getting less immune to adorable things? Or one adorable person, to be specific?
I quickly shaked my weird thoughts and focused back on her, as she opened her mouth.
"You were enjoying with dadi, I didn't want to interrupt it." She shrugged and started to walk away, towards her own bedroom.
I sighed.
"And Vansh?" She called me, making me turn around to looked at her. "Yes?"
"Stop calling me choti madam. It sounds like some old bollywood movie. Call me by my name instead." She smiled at me. I chuckled at the bollywood refrence.
"Sure, Miss Medha." I say and the look on her face felt so..... beautiful for some reason.
