"Phew! Finally shook off those villains!"
Grand Duchess Helen breathed a sigh of relief.
The carriage continued forward, and the pursuer leader who had been clinging to it had vanished without a trace. Only his disheveled clothes were pinned to the side of the carriage by a short crossbow bolt, the very one Ladia had shot at the beginning of the battle.
"I've recovered almost completely. Shall I use Featherlight Spell again?"
"Save your energy! What if we encounter something else?"
...
The pursuer leader, naked and clinging to a tree trunk, watched as his four subordinates in the open space were each knocked down by the mud monsters. Then, the carriage carrying their target gradually moved away.
Anxious and agitated, he suddenly saw the two monsters under the tree turn back into a pile of mud.
The pursuer leader immediately climbed down from the tree and rushed to the side of several subordinates who were barely alive. Despite being naked, he didn't bother to find clothes to wear. Instead, he frantically searched one of his subordinates.
"Weird, I remember putting it on him... Ah, found it."
Finally, he pulled out a scroll.
"I will make you pay!"
The pursuer leader said bitterly. Tonight, he had been humiliated several times by the two women. How could he swallow this anger?
Unable to confront them head-on, he had to use other means. The pursuer leader remembered a secret weapon in his team — a scroll infused with magic.
According to the instructions from above, this scroll was meant to deal with a large number of enemies, like an army. Using it against just two women seemed somewhat wasteful.
But he couldn't afford to consider all this now. Today's experience had deeply shaken him, a self-proclaimed elite of the Arcane Society. If he didn't eliminate them, it would become a lifelong psychological shadow.
He retrieved the scroll from his unconscious companion, returned to where the horses were tied, mounted one, and pursued the direction in which the carriage had gone. He hadn't even bothered to find clothes to wear.
"Still not giving up, huh?"
Hearing the sound of hooves behind them, Ladia and Helen frowned.
"It seems he won't rest until he incapacitates us."
Standing up from her seat, Ladia looked back and saw the pursuer leader, who had been magically transported away earlier, now riding naked on a horse, chasing after them.
After muttering curses at the pervert, she secretly pondered how to teach him a lesson he would never forget.
Meanwhile, after closing the distance with the carriage, the pursuer leader tore open the scroll and began chanting an incantation.
After a few seconds, the incantation was complete. He forcefully tossed the scroll into the air above the carriage.
"Aoo~woo~"
A mournful wolf howl shattered the silence of the night.
The sound of the howl was exceptionally loud, causing Ladia and Helen to feel like their eardrums were about to burst.
"Hui~hui~"
The two horses pulling the carriage appeared frightened and restless. They suddenly stopped running and stood in place, stomping their hooves incessantly, as if something terrifying lay in ambush ahead in the dark night.
