Hi. This is my first project that is not a mushroom story or minecraft fanfic. So....yeah. I open to any questions and suggestions.
Prolog
Long before you were even born. In a land where empires fought endlessly. A city had revolted against Rome. The City was none other than Odyssia. The revolution was led by the young and cunning prince Caxel (Axel). Caxel along with his childhood friend the strong and courageous Aristius, had prevented Rome from reclaiming Odyssia, using some questionable methods. Being able to hold their ground from Rome made Odyssia infamous. The surrounding cities and empires began to feared Caxel's and Aristius's combined might.
After several years Caxel had been elected the king. On the other hand Aristius after serval years as a general had retired and became a mentor to emerging warriors of Odyssia.
In his twenty-first year as king, Caxel had went on a voyage to Sycally to ensure a very beneficial trade. He would not return as his so called "loyal crew" mutinied, almost three fourth of the way. Caxel had been stabbed while he was in helping with navigation, he was stabbed in the back multiple times. The dagger had went in and came out again and again, it only stopped when Ephialtes the one doing the stabbing and who led the mutiny figured that the king was dead. Then the king was tossed of the ship's edge into the deep abysmal waters of the sea they were in, Stallae Infinitae. His body even after several attempts was never retrieved from the depths.
As for Aristius, he trained serval warriors whom went on their own journeys. Not all of his students used strength to overpower their opponent as he did. Some used their speed, while others used their wits. Aristius had married Helice, a Greek commoner who he saved from a group of bandits while on his journey back to Odyssia from The greek city of Finira. Together they had a daughter, Kassandra and a son, Augustus. Seventeen years after Augustus was born, one of Aristius's student had went rogue and killed him. Aristius's corpse was found in his house bloody and mutilated. It was a horrible sight for his wife, who found the corpse. Serval swords, daggers, spears and other weapons were used to impale Aristius. The killer had taken his time and made Aristius suffer before finally finishing him with a Roman short sword through the forehead. Isidoros the successor to Caxel, his eldest son, had been worried that after both of Odyssia's greatest fighters had died, the neighboring kingdoms, cities and empires might become a threat to Odyssia's independence. Due to this reason Isidoros had sent serval scouts on a expedition to look for Aristius's students that were willing to fight for Odyssia. After several months of searching the entirety of the land that had been put on a map, only a few scouts returned. The rest were either killed, kidnapped, or had given up. Some of the warriors, now know as Knights were: Nyx-an excellent swordsman. He had been mercenary in Rome. Odius- a defensive pike wielder, who was a part of the Carthagian army. Anais- a strategist, she was on the council of Greek as a strategist. Thaleia- an accurate archer, she used to work at a flower shop in Odyssia. Aloeus-agile assassin, was a assassin for the Order of Troy. Gryllus- war hammer wielding brute, was a Roman Gladiator. Tresh- Cunning alchemist, he was a known scammer in Greece.Serval days after the knights were formed, the king had summoned them to his throne room and they all arrived within a few minutes. The king, Isidoros told them the reason for their need, which was to fend off attacks and if necessary lead attacks from/on other kingdoms. When they were informed of Aristius's death, almost all were saddened by the discovery. Aristius had been strict and demanding but he had given all them another chance at life and for that they were more than grateful. They hated that they couldn't do anything to save him. That day the Knights vowed to protect Odyssia with their last breath and with that they were dismissed. Then the Knights selected a place to hang around which was Heartwood Tarvern. A month passed by and they were getting along well other then some arguments here and there.
The king Isidoros was starting to think that his first son, Afinn might have been killed. The young prince had not returned from a battle that had happened around four months ago. Isidoros's wife the eldest daughter of the king of Carthage, Anthra had became very restless and anxious. She had started to constantly ask and sometimes demand Isidoros to find her eldest son. Isidoros after a while gave in and sent a few spys and scouts to Odyma to find out what was the fate of the young prince .
The battle Afinn, the prince had went to fight was a revolt in the village of Odyma, which was located north of Odyssia. Rome had supplied both men and weapons which made it difficult for Afinn to handle. When Afinn and his men had charged into the village through the main gate, the archers secretly positioned on the roof shot at them. Most of his men had been killed, while Afinn's eye was pierced by a arrow. After getting hit he fell of his horse and was quickly tied by the villagers. The villagers dissected him without any painkillers, and after removing all the organs, they placed the organs in a barrel of apple vinegar in order to preserve them. His corpse was filled with cloth and hung at the center of the village, as if the villagers were proud of what they had done. Isidoros had gotten this news two weeks after he had sent his scouts and spys. He didn't tell his wife that the eldest prince was dead as she would probably die of sadness. Even though he appeared fine, inside of this pacifist, violent thoughts were rising. He was enraged that anyone had dared to do such a brutal thing to the heir of Odyssia, the grandson of Caxel.
