Jeon and Jessica were getting ready in a rush the next day. Jeon mentioned, “Jess, did ya notice?”
Jessica replied, “Notice what juu?”
Jeon excitedly shared, “That we have music today, the subject.”
Their exchange was as usual as ever, and soon enough, they mounted their bicycles and pedaled all the way to school. Upon arrival in the classroom, they arrived punctually, allowing them some spare moments to converse with their newfound freinds since the school bell had not rang yet to start the school day.
Kim Ju Ni was seated next to her as they had arranged. Jessica gestured to Jeon, urging him to convey her apology to the hefty boy. He assured her he would handle it. After a while, the hefty boy entered, and Jeon relayed Jessica's request for forgiveness, to which he responded with a smile.
He cautioned Jeon, “Never mention my name to her; she seems like a decent girl,” before heading to his designated subject. As numerous lessons passed, it was time for their music class. The two youngsters captivated the class with their singing, although the music teacher pointed out their errors and guided them on the correct path. They grasped the corrections swiftly.
Ju Ni fixed her gaze on Jessica for an extended period. When Ju Ni attempted to approach Jessica, the girl who had been staring at Jessica the previous day accidentally collided with Ju Ni. Startled, Ju Ni exclaimed, “Lim Soo Ha!” and glared at her. Jessica approached Soo Ha and inquired, “So, you're Soo Ha. It's nice to meet you. Why did you do that?” Soo Ha departed without uttering a single word.
As dusk fell, the young ones arrived home. Jeon playfully teased and chuckled at the sculpture resembling Jessica, provoking her with jokes for an extended period. “All gazes were fixed on you, as if a leading lady is confronting the antagonist in a drama,” he bantered, his laughter resonating through the room. “Yet, she left you embarassed, ignoring your presence entirely. Hahahaha.”
In response, Jessica quipped, “Ha. Ha. Ha... Quite amusing! Really? Is this truly embarrassing!?” Her words muffled behind a pillow shielding her blushing cheeks. A harmonious atmosphere enveloped the pair as they shared this light-hearted moment.
With Jessica's allure and grace, she captivated the hearts of many young men, creating envy in the hearts of numerous girls. Jeon astutely observed the discomfort evident in the boys' demeanor around her, a silent testament to Jessica's magnetic charm.
A week or two passed, Jessica and Jeon continued to enjoy their school days. They made new friends and were delighted with their new school environment. Jessica had even made progress in learning Korean. Jessica and Juni developed a strong friendship, growing closer each day.
One day, as they entered the classroom after the break, Jessica sat down, and Juni noticed a minty scent in the air. When Jessica tried to stand up, her skirt tore due to the sticky chewing gum on her chair, emitting a strong minty smell. The boys averted their eyes, signaling to ignore the situation, and even Jeon turned away, mindful of the teacher's presence. Juni stood frozen, unsure of what to do.
Tears welled up in Jessica's eyes as she felt utterly embarrassed. Suddenly, a girl from the front row sprang into action, taking off her coat to cover Jessica's torn skirt, grabbing Jessica's bag, and leading her to the washroom. Concerned whispers filled the room as everyone speculated about Jessica's situation. Among the hushed conversations, Juni's name stood out prominently, overshadowing even Jessica's distress.
Jeon was about to ask what's about Juni while Juni came and said suddenly, “ hey where are you going, i heard you're Jessica's brother, i mean, yeah, freind. So, im Juni, well others don't like me here because they're jelous that I'm Jessica's freind so, don't mind their rumors against me. ” and she went.
Jeon felt uneasy about the way she bumped, spoke and went. Jeon wanted to do a background search about Juni to ensure Jessica's safety. He went to the washroom to wash his sweaty hands, while someone came and closed his mouth and took him to an empty class and locked the door.
Jeon was scared about what happened, so he turned to see the guy's face and asked, “Look, whoever you are! What have you got to do with me?” The stranger replied, “Ottoke! Jinjja? You forgot me Jeonkook!? I'm Kim Ki Yun, remember, when you were here, we both were best freinds?” Jeon then remembered that Kim Ki Yun was his best friend. They had a long chat about their stories until they realized that their period was over.
They went their separate ways and headed to their classes. At home, Jeon told Jessica about Ki Yun and Juni's strange behaviors, along with the odd gossips of the class. Jessica reacted, saying, “Come on Jeon, believe Juni, she's a very good girl. I've been with her for a week, and she is a gem of a person. I don't know why others hate her so much.” Jeon thought Jessica wouldn't listen to him, so he decided to keep an eye on Juni when Jessica wasn't around.
Despite that, they discussed their homework and assignments. As days passed, their exams arrived, and both of them performed well. This time, even Jeon achieved good results, with Jessica maintaining her usual high scores. They enjoyed their summer vacations, taking a small tour after their exams for some stress relief. There were no problems from Juni or Lim Soo Ha.
Jeon eventually realized that Jessica was right about Juni and decided to let go of his suspicions. While they waited for their bus to be prepared at school, Jeon observed everyone lugging 2 or 3 bags, contrasting with the hefty boy who possessed merely a small backpack. Jeon inquired, “Hey, um. You never wish to disclose your name, so I'll dub you chubby fellow.
Therefore, chubby, why do you sport a slight backpack when all the others bear luggage as if voyaging to a foreign land?” The hefty boy retorted, “Indeed, because they are going on a journey, not me .” This response irked Jeon. Although not particularly close to him, it marked the first time he conversed a little more than as usual.
Rumor had it that he showed a different behavior before the rejection by a girl he had loved dearly, known for his playful and endearing nature. Following the rejection, he vanished for a month, only to reappear in this altered state. Jeon gleaned all these details from Kiyun.
As the bus pulled up, Jeon aimed to secure a spot next to Jessica. After reserving a seat for her and waiting, Kiyun swooped in and occupied the spot. Jeon voiced, “Hey, this spot is for my sister.”
Kiyun retorted, “Wow, do you think she'll stick with you the whole time? She's here to have fun with her pals. Won't it spoil her enjoyment? And if she asked you...” Observing Juni and Jessica seated nearby, snapping pictures, Kiyun added, “See... Didn't I tell you?” Jeon felt a twinge of sadness but acknowledged Kiyun's point, refraining from asking Jessica to join him. Instead, he relished the trip with the lively Kiyun, finding it quite enjoyable.
During a stop they made, Jessica and Juni reveled in the moment. However, Jessica's attention wavered, and when Juni was engrossed in conversation with her, rummaging through her backpack, turned to show something, only to find no one beside her.
While searching for Jessica, she spotted her heading towards a nearby music store. Jeon noticed this too and followed her to the store. As they were both testing guitars, the store owner permitted them to play and was impressed by their singing abilities.
He inquired, “Ma'am, sir, if you both can sing so well, why didn't you enter a singing competition or try to become idols?” Jeon responded, “Do you really think I can? Well, we applied before and didn't get chosen. I don't know why or where I went wrong.”
The shopkeeper encouraged, “Sir, your voice is captivating; don't give up. Try again. Sing for your music teacher and ask for feedback. Improve and strive for perfection. Here, take this guitar as a gift from me.” Jeon and Jessica felt inspired by his words. Jeon expressed gratitude, and as they left, he exclaimed, “Time for another shot, Jess!” Jessica joyfully shouted in response.
