Well, I dread the matter of reading Puranas, since they are so often filled with misinformations and contradictions, some of which often seem pretty offensive and to be honest, I am pretty easy to offend.
But Dil hai jo maanta nahi. I love to read mythological fluffs and trust me, Puranas give a good fluff read, at times. So I read them every now and then and quite often stumble across really cute stories like this one, here.
I was reading the Shiva Purana and I came to the Vāyavīya-saṃhitā (1) chapters-24 to 27 and dude...I was flattered.
So here I am, with yet another drabble of mine on Shiva-Parvati, imagining the scene on the basis of the storyline provided by the scripture.
Enjoy❤️

At Narayana's mansion
"What did you do this time?" Narayana announced, after five minutes of observing Shiva fiddling with a peacock feather.
He definitely did something. Again.
"Why would you assume that I-" Shiva immediately tried to protest but stopped as Narayana raised his eyebrows at him.
"I mean, yeah but it's not like I meant to offend her or something. It was just a harmless joke." He mumbled.
Narayana shook his head, chuckling.
So, his brother-in-law was again in a trouble with his sister.
"What did you say?" He asked, calmly.
"Ahh, I might have called-" Shiva started but stopped seeing Narayana narrowing his eyes at him.
"Might have?" Narayana raised his eyebrows.
"I have. I have called her Kaali. But that's a term of endearment that I wanted to use for her and-"
"Just endearment?" Narayana raised his brows higher.
This brother in law of his was holding the administrative position with him and Brahma, which by far was the highest in Aryavarta. While he wasn't really intimidating to work around, he was pretty serious with whatever works he did.
And here he was. Outside the workplace and always pranking and joking with his wife and getting himself in trouble, from time to time.
"Well, maybe a bit of teasing as well." Shiva shrugged.
"Of course. And people call me a prankster." Narayana scoffed, hiding a laugh beneath.
He tried hard to be serious here.
Narayana was a prankster, for sure. But not enough to land him into trouble with his wife, every second day and definitely not enough to almost lead his future parents-in-law to the dilemma, whether or not to let their daughter marry him.
"I am not a prankster." Shiva declared.
"Right. It was me, who dressed up as an ascetic and told Himavat that her daughter shouldn't marry you." Narayana smirked.
"Okay. Maybe a little."
"And then dressed up like a chandala at his wedding and set a scene, so strange that his mother-in-law passed out seeing her to-be son-in-law." Lakshmi added as she entered the room. Narayana nodded at his beloved, encouragingly.
Well, he did enjoy teasing Shiva a bit.
"Whatever. Just-just help me out. She's gone away to change her complexion and become Gauri and I am now waiting for her Roudra form. I tried to stop her. She just didn't listen."
