"Nik, no!" Rebekah steps forward, ready to intervene. She realizes her mistake a second too late. Niklaus would most definitely hurt Florence now. Both to punish Rebekah for her interruption and because she had shown care for someone.

Florence tries with all her might to free herself from Niklaus's grip, fingers clawing at his unrelenting hands. She had already been bitten once in Chicago, that was plenty enough for her.

Niklaus grins cruelly at his sister before sinking his teeth into Florence's bared throat. He is pleased to notice that Florence halts her futile struggle and he focuses all his attention on his drinking.

Florence let a cry escape, the painful sting of the fangs had startled her. The dull ache that now overtook the strange sensation of having her blood taken left her feeling depleted.

Kaleb glares at the scene before him. He had been wrong in his earlier assessment, Niklaus looked absolutely evil, and there were no horns or tails needed to emphasize that.

Rebekah looks on with disgust at her brother's act of brutality. Annoyance and anger are raging through her, partly because of the injustice of this, but mostly because her brother was claiming Florence. Rebekah didn't think she particularly liked Florence, but something about the kind, and let's be honest incredibly naive, girl pulled her in. This fascination was strong enough to rouse jealousy and territorialism in the blonde.

Niklaus drinks greedily with a sense of triumph and justification. His bloodshot eyes made eye contact with the annoying warlock, only adding to his victory. The boy was smart not to try to stop him. Niklaus wasn't above tearing out the warlock's throat.

The sweet taste of this girl's blood was enjoyable until an unwelcome memory flashes before Niklaus's eyes. A vision of warm brown skin smattered with freckles, and the distant sound of a heartbreakingly familiar laugh occupies all his senses for the briefest moment.

Niklaus lets himself be dragged into this mirage for a few seconds before reality crashes back in. Abruptly he pulls away from Florence, fangs retreating, hands loosening their grip on the girl.

Florence in response to this, collapses to the ground, unable to find her footing after having her blood taken from her. During Niklaus's attack, she had once more seen flashes of Delphine and Niklaus. In stark contrast to Florence's situation now, the hybrid had been most devoted in the vision, which only added to her confusion. How could a person be so loving one moment and absolutely merciless in the next? Perhaps it was the logical result of having lived so many lives and experienced so much hurt.

Survival instinct kicks in, and Florence crawls away from Niklaus, seeking shelter in the nearness of Kaleb and Rebekah. Her hands desperately find Rebekah's ankle, gripping tightly, as if fearing that the hybrid would try to drag her back to him.

Rebekah freezes, unable to move as Florence enters her personal space. The touch was not unwelcome and a part of her was touched by the idea that Florence foolishly believed Rebekah to be safe.

She looks on as Kaleb crouches beside the girl. He proceeds to apply pressure to her newly acquired wound. She curses herself for being cowardly and not stepping in to help the girl.

Ignoring Florence's current state of distress Niklaus snaps, eyes gleaming dangerously. "What have you done?"

"I think you don't get to be the one to ask that particular question." Gloria snaps, eyeing the hybrid cautiously. "She has done nothing to deserve your beastly treatment."
