Abeke's Reflections
Abeke's eyes glazed over, lost in thought. Memories of Akanji's hurtful words resurfaced:
"You're trying to control me, and I won't let you."
"You only show your true self when you're angry."
"You're broken, and you need to fix yourself."
"You're irresponsible and can't take care of yourself."
"I'm wasting my time with you; you're like a child."
She winced, reliving the pain. Her chest tightened, and her breath caught.
"I remember thinking, 'Is this really what he thinks of me?' His words cut deep, making me question my self-worth."
But as she reflected, Abeke's thoughts shifted:
"His venom was meant to break me, but it fueled my resilience."
"Their sting awakened my strength, and I rose above the pain."
"His doubts ignited a fire within me, illuminating my path to self-discovery."
Seeking Guidance
Abeke sought out Morenike, a respected elder and wise woman. Morenike's warm smile and gentle eyes put Abeke at ease.
"Morenike, I'm struggling to make sense of my past," Abeke said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Akanji's words still linger, and I fear I'll never be free."
Morenike's expression turned introspective, her eyes clouding with memories.
