Idana (Meeting of the Parents)
Ajiun's family home, Èko, radiated warmth, bathed in golden sunlight streaming through the windows. Vibrant Yoruba attire adorned the room, while the savory scent of freshly cooked jollof rice and suya wafted from the kitchen, mingling with the sweet fragrance of honey and earthy kola nuts brought by the Oyewoles. The soft hum of laughter and murmured conversations filled the air.
Mama smiled warmly, greeting Akanji's parents with a gentle hug. Her neck gleamed with the 18-karat chain, and her eyes sparkled with hospitality. The soft rustle of her traditional Yoruba dress echoed through the room.
"Welcome, Prince and Princess Oyewole. Please, come in."
Baba unfolded from the couch, his long legs stretching out as he stood up. His deep voice boomed, resonating through the room.
"Ah, Prince Oyewole, it's an honor. Please, join me in my study."
The Meeting
The Oyewoles arrived with their entourage, bearing gifts: kola nuts, bitter kola, and honey. Prince Oyewole exuded understated elegance, his wealth subtly evident in the intricate patterns on his agbada. His voice was low and smooth, like honey.
"Distinguished Chief Adeyemi, delighted to meet you."
Chief Adeyemi nodded, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"The pleasure's mine, Prince Oyewole."
A hint of tension lingered in the air, as Mama's eyes flicked to Akanji, her expression cautious.
Private Meeting
In the study, Prince Oyewole and Chief Adeyemi engaged in a lively discussion on politics and business. The sound of laughter and rustling papers filled the room. The scent of old books and leather-bound chairs enveloped them.
"Chief Adeyemi, the current economic climate is challenging," Prince Oyewole said, his brow furrowed.
Chief Adeyemi nodded thoughtfully.
"Indeed, Prince Oyewole. But opportunities still abound."
Prince Oyewole leaned forward, his voice taking on a serious tone.
"I must admit, I'm impressed by your family's textile business. Our own Oyewole Textiles has been seeking innovative partnerships."
Chief Adeyemi nodded.
"Indeed, Prince Oyewole. Collaboration can drive growth. Perhaps we can discuss a potential merger?"
Akanji's eyes wandered to the window, lost in thought. Memories of Segi haunted him, like a ghostly whisper.
Meanwhile, in the Living Room
Princess Oyewole admired Mama's attire.
"Your dress is stunning, Mama. What's the inspiration behind the design?"
Mama smiled.
"Thank you, Princess. It's a traditional Yoruba pattern, passed down through generations."
Adeola joined the conversation.
"Mummy, I think our families' combined expertise will create breathtaking wedding attire."
Princess Oyewole's eyes sparkled.
"Exactly! Our textile business has exquisite materials."
Wedding Date and Colors
After the introduction ceremony, the families discussed the wedding date. Prince Oyewole suggested:
"Shall we fix a date?"
Chief Adeyemi nodded.
"Let's consider the dates carefully."
Baba suggested:
"June 22nd?"
Mama nodded.
"Acceptable."
Princess Oyewole smiled.
"Thank you."
Ajiun's eyes widened.
"Mummy, can I choose the wedding colors?"
Mama smiled.
"Of course, dear."
Ajiun beamed.
"I'll pick something beautiful!"
Later, Ajiun shared her wedding plans.
"Mummy, I've chosen the wedding colors – ivory, champagne, and a hint of purple."
Mama smiled.
"Beautiful, dear. Our families will unite in style."
Akanji's gaze lingered on Ajiun's radiant smile. His eyes gleamed with warmth.
"I love the way you think, Ajiun," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Ajiun beamed.
"I'm lucky to have you too, Akanji."
As they shared a tender moment, Akanji's eyes flashed with a fleeting glint.
Later That Night
Akanji stood on the balcony, the Èko cityscape stretching before him. The stars twinkled like diamonds. The cool night breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers.
"Segi was just a distraction," he thought, his expression cold. "Ajiun is mine now, and she'll do exactly as I say."
He recalled the control he had over Segi, the way she succumbed to his charms.
"Ajiun will be no different," he smirked.
Akanji's determination solidified.
"I'll keep her in line, just like I did with Segi. No one leaves me."
